BD-3000 protocol droid Biwa was first observed as Vir Calder's personal assistant in Year 19 on the world of Malastare as he traveled to Pixelito to negotiate business with the city's council members. At that time, the droid was seen in the stock paint scheme for BD-3000 droids, with several body panels appearing to be dented and worn. Some time in late Year 20 or early Year 21, it was reported that the droid received an exterior overhaul, with a bright red main body and decorative accents patterned after that of Sanshin's, which was originally designed by Areagla Loomis. Biwa was reported to be always operating with Sanshin as a pair.
