Gabriel Kaine, was born on Year -32 Day 186 to the successful entrepreneur Asenour Kaine and his wife Erzabeth on the planet of Coruscant. Today, he is the current Lord Protector of Holowan, Governor of the Colavas System, and Patriarch of the Kaine Family. Though born as a set of triplets, Gabriel and his sister Reina grew up with no knowledge of their other sister, Saige, due to the tragic circumstances of her birth. Raised in the posh and plush lifestyle of a well-to-do Imperial millionaire, Gabriel was showered with the best education and lifestyle his father could afford. When he came of age, and much to the disapproval of his father, Gabriel followed in his uncle Herbert “Incubus" Kaine’s footsteps enrolling in the service to the Emperor in his Imperial Navy. After a long and successful career, Gabriel retired from all Imperial services to pursue his new found faith which would lead him to his current position at the side of his brother-in-law, Crueya Vandron, in Holowan.

History

Childhood

Despite being born to the lap of luxury, Gabriel and his sister, Reina, endured the sad disappointment of growing up without a mother. Asenour, their father, would often share stories with his children of their mother, who tragically died just after child birth. However there was one dark secret that Asenour never shared with his children: Erzabeth died after giving birth to their youngest sister. They would grow up knowing this mystery sister as Saige Kippenbrock, their first cousin on their mother’s side of the family. The truth was never revealed until much later in life that because of the death of his beloved Erzabeth, Asenour hated and resented the young Saige and originally wanted her orphaned. However, family pride ran deep in his older brother, Herbert, who forbid the action and approached the Kippenbrocks to raise the young Saige as their own. Extended family was much better than no family.

Aside of the ignorance of their mother’s death and subsequent unknown sister, both Kaine children enjoyed a happy and wonderful childhood. They enjoyed many vacations, educational opportunities, private tudors, and whatever tickled their fancy. Reina enjoyed the arts while Gabriel always held a fascination for music. It was always the hope of Asenour that his son would follow in his footsteps, so he always tried to push Gabriel to areas of focus that revolved around business ventures. Unfortunately for his father, at this stage in his life he was more interested the stories and adventures his uncle…the Imperial Naval Officer Herbert “Incubus” Kaine and his deep fascination with the Force.

Imperial Exploration

As the days grew closer to his sixteenth birthday, Gabriel expressed his intent to enlist in the Imperial Academy. Initially forbidding it, Asenour simply did not understand his son’s desire to join the military. Wanting more than a life of luxury, Gabriel insistently prodded his father into allowing his enlistment with one minor stipulation: Gabriel had to finish his private schooling and would be allowed to enlist at the age of nineteen. On the night following that long awaited birthday, Gabriel enrolled for the next opening at one of the recruitment centers on Coruscant. Saying good bye to the embellishments of the privileges that he use to enjoy, Gabriel officially began his career in the Galactic Empire military.

Just missing the required score to be enrolled in the prestigious Imperial Naval Academy, Gabriel was however, accepted and able to excel in the Coruscant Sector Naval Academy. It was there that his intrigue in the field of astrogation earned him top merits in this field and would later set him up for his enrollment in the Imperial Exploration Corps as an Ensign after his graduation. It is here where Gabriel spent many years exploring unknown regions that would be hopefully colonized or at least used to supply the Empire with additional resources that the behemoth seemed to require to operate. Gabriel worked his way up to Lieutenant Commander and led a sizable group of ships and pilots operating just outside the Deep Core Security Zone.

Around Y10 D281, Gabriel would have a run in with a man that he knew by name, but never met in person. In a chance meeting, on Coruscant, Gabriel had the distinct privilege of meeting with the commanding officer of the Imperial Navy, Vice Admiral Axe Vulcan. Being summoned to the Naval head quarters, Gabriel was asked to give an update to the the fleets of the Deep Core, on the western exploration front, to which the Vice Admiral was in attendance. Following the conference the Vice Admiral summoned him for a private audience. Admiral Vulcan was curious of Gabriel’s family linage, and was surprised to find that he was directly related, to his old commanding officer. They had a friendly discussion about his uncle, and his service in the Exploration Corps. Leaving the meeting, Gabriel felt very fortunate and honored to have met the Admiral. Little did he know that following the meeting, Admiral Vulcan conducted an investigation in the service history of the young Lieutenant Commander. What he found, was exactly what he was looking for.

Command & Retirement

Given the promotion to Commander, transferred from the Exploration Corps and reassigned to personally oversee an annoying situation in the 9th Imperial Fleet. There was some dispute that raised the attention of the Naval Command, and the Vice Admiral wanted to test Gabriel leadership by seeing how he would handle the situation. Happy with his findings and final report, On Y10 D290, Commander Gabriel Kaine was given the access codes and personnel files of the Emperor’s Third Imperial Fleet and assigned as its new Fleet Commanding Officer. After only 177 day, the now Captain Gabriel Kaine filed his final report to Naval High Command as the Fleet Commanding Officer of the Third Imperial Fleet. In this short time, he was able to elevate the ranks of both officers and enlisted within the fleet, after meeting with Naval High Command, felt comfortable enough to move on to his next assignment. It is important to note that not all of his time in the 3IF was riddled with success. There was one notable incident involving an enlisted that defected and in doing so, deserted with a small stash of Imperial property. Staff Flight Sergeant Silens Nex, turned to the Eidola Pirates, amidst thoughts that Gabriel’s distaste for aliens would eventually lead to his death. In an ironic turn of events, reports would later arrive that Silens did in turn committed suicide.

Arriving in the Deep Core Sector on Y11 D102, Gabriel was greeted by his command staff of the Second Imperial Fleet. Not but fifteen days into his command, Gabriel would have to lead his new fleet to assist the Hapes Government. Losing control of one of their planets, the Hapan Government sought the assistance of the Galactic Empire’s Interdictors. Over the course of the next year, Gabriel would watch as the 2IF, like the 3IF did, grow into a formidable fleet and the addition of the flagship, Super Star Destroyer Highborne. The 2IF would see the merging of some of the Ninth Imperial Fleet officers into its ranks. With the fleet focusing on the Deep Core Sector, Gabriel’s attention would begin to shift to assisting the Regional Government led by Moff Lord Mentus. It was this relationship with Lord Mentus, that would ultimately lead to Gabriel’s desire, to hang up his uniform in the service the Navy, and pursue a new career in the Empire’s Regional Government.

Now at the rank of Commodore, Gabriel made the decision that his many years in the Navy were coming to a close. He had led a successful career exploring the unknown regions, commanding ships like the Super Star Destroyer, and serving as two separate fleet commanding officers. With the approval of the Navy’s Commanding Officer Admiral Senki Blackrain, on Y12 D074, Gabriel retired from the Imperial Navy but not before being awarded the Navy Medal of Loyalty.

Gabriel’s new role in service to the Empire would be as the Lieutenant Governor of the Deep Core Sector under the direct command of Moff Lord Mentus. However, his time in the regional government would not last very long. After serving for three months, Gabriel was used to leadership that commanded great respect for their subordinates and commanded great level of respected in their own right but in this new position, he found little from his new superiors. On the 143rd day of the 12th year of Darkness, Gabriel Kaine retired from all services to the Galactic Empire deciding that his time could and should be spent elsewhere.

Death of More than Blood

Sometime after the 150th day of the 11th year of Darkness, Gabriel, who was a Captain in the Imperial Navy, received word that his little cousin, Lilith Kaine, was arrested though reasons were unknown. In true Imperial fashion, the charges were vague but grievous and despite his best efforts, Gabriel failed to use his powers of influence to secure her release. His efforts went as far as offering his life for hers to the Executor of the Empire, who at that time was the soon to be Emperor Thomas Cherokee. Refusing his offer sealed her fate and on the 155th day of the 11th year of Darkness, Lilith Kaine, daughter of Amelia Kaine, was put to death. Now dead, Lilith’s story does not end here.

One of Gabriel’s dearest friends form childhood was a force sensitive young lady by the name of Sami Freemason. Found to be force sensitive at an early age and with Gabriel’s fascination with the Force from all the countless tales from his uncle about Sith Lords made these two a natural pair growing up. Sami and another dark jedi at the time knew of a way to possibly bring Lilith soul back from the Netherworld of the Force to the world of the living. Meeting at the Kaine’s former estate on Empress Teta, those assembled performed the ceremony. There was high hope at the time that it would succeed but before it was over, Lilith’s soul faded and reunited with the Force and left Gabriel, who had volunteered to help with the blood portion of the ceremony, with a shattered soul.

Lilith’s death and failed reincarnation physically scared Gabriel for sometime. The touch of death all but killed a portion of his body for some months and furthermore penetrated to the very core of him and as a result shattered a large portion of his soul. The body would in time heal, both naturally and with the assistance of medical advancements, but there was little Sami or anyone could do to mend his soul. The shattering of one’s soul had no ill affect on either demeanor or attitude, but effectively made the person all but cut off to the Force. Though his condition as a Sin-Eater, as Sami referred to it, had not affect on his state of emotions, Gabriel entered into a state of depression. The very thing that he spent his military career defending claimed the life of not only his Uncle many years earlier, but not his young cousin. Despite all his power, his fleets, and his massive destroyers, he utterly failed at defending those closest to him. Though not directly the reason for his retirement from all Imperial services, these series of events only added to his growing disenchantment and love-loss of his once beloved Empire.

Personality

Composed of a solid appearance, Gabriel does not tower as a muscular giant. Standing approximately 6’3”, his 200 lbs. stature portrays a body that has been hardened but not chiseled by his 20 years in the service of the Imperial Navy. His hair is often kept short out of habit; however, he never was fond of the natural curls that would sprout once his hair would reach a certain length. His square facial features housed a pair of light green eyes and sported a scruffy appearance from time to time, though it was not uncommon for him to appear clean-shaven. Born into wealth and built in Imperial service, his fashion also is a byproduct of his life choices. Though he no longer wears a uniform, he does make a point to be well dressed, but not overdressed. Generally he is very laid back and patient, but there is a passionate rage within when it comes to matters of his family and his honor.

Despite his comfortable nature around people, Gabriel greatly looks forward to his solitude, however keeping a perfect balance can be difficult. Spending a good portion of his life in space, Gabriel’s wanderlust is all but over. Since the acquisition of his new home in the Halla Sector, he looks forward to time building up a new home, a place for his family to make their stand.
