The Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser Steadfast, a relic of the Clone Wars, is a ship in the personal service of Vir Calder.

The Clone Wars Era

Originally named Independence, this warship was constructed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) during the Clone Wars. She served as the flagship of a high ranking fleet admiral of the CIS military who oversaw the coordination of multiple fleets, and thus she saw no front line action until the final chapter of the war. At Binquaros, she was a ship-of-the-line with the Ciutric Hegemony Fleet which failed to defend this last Separatist stronghold. Disabled during the battle, she was captured by the Galactic Republic, which pressed her into continued naval service.

The Galactic Empire Era

Between Year 3 and Year 4, Emperor Charon greatly expanded the Imperial Navy with modern warships, rendering Independence and other Clone Wars era ships obsolete. Most of these older warships were scrapped, but a number of the more valuable ships were saved from such fate, instead awarded to those close to Charon. Independence gifted to Vir Calder during the ship's decommissioning ceremony. At the event, Charon declared that this gift was granted in appreciation for Calder's unwavering loyalty. In accordance with that sentiment, Calder renamed the ship Steadfast to emphasize the perpetual nature of his such loyalty.

A known droid enthusiast, Calder deployed a great number of his personal security droids, including the pair of Droideka that Charon had given him during the Year 3 Life Day celebrations, to guard this treasured CIS relic. Many labor droids were also deployed aboard to continuously keep the ship in working condition.

Later that year, Calder disappeared under mysterious circumstances. During his disappearance, Steadfast remained at the edge of the Berchest System, far too costly for the local government to claim and far too dangerous for scavengers to explore. In the subsequent years, while the labor droids were able to keep all critical systems functional, a great many of the weapons systems failed, impossible to repair. This included the large caliber ion weapon that made the Subjugator-class ships fearsome. A bank of computer systems also failed some time during Calder's disappearance, which led to the loss of the ship's original Galactic Registry ID. Some time during the power struggles of the tumultuous Greyson Uebles/Vodo Bonias era, a number of vessel identification codes were purposefully wiped out by an unidentified party to facilitate the theft and subsequent movement of those ships into the black market. Steadfast's Galactic Registry ID was among the codes lost.

Modernization

Calder returned to the galaxy in Year 19 and reclaimed Steadfast, first moving her to Vinsoth System in Quelii Sector and then to Austan System in Arkanis Sector.

On Year 24 Day 199, the ship was towed to RMS Austan Yards in the Austan System. According to an anonymous source claiming to have been an employee of a contractor hired by Calder, most of the original weapons are to be removed, including the large caliber ion weapon that brought the Subjugator-class Heavy Cruiser fame. The spaces freed by the removal of the weapons systems are to be converted into storage spaces and droid workshops. A stately conference room is to be installed just off of the docking bay. The modernization work is expected to last well into Year 25.

Due to the loss of her Galactic Registry ID, The Resistance, the governing body of Arkanis Sector, assigned a new Galactic Registry ID for Steadfast on Year 24 Day 199.
