Tomas o`Cuinn is a well-known entrepreneur with extensive galactic interests, strongly focusing on planetary infrastructure and starship trafficking. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Gree Trade Authority, Governor of the Gree system, and Patriarch of the Cuinn Family. He is also a Mandalorian convert of the clan Dael'mor, a citizen of the Trade Federation and a veteran sabacc player, having both won and lost fortunes while playing the high-stakes game. He originally gained widespread recognition for his profit-driven trading career along with galactic notoriety for his public position with the Black Sun crime syndicate before being forced out of the organization in Year 14 CGT. Cuinn served as the leader of GenoHaradan from the 208th to the 267th day of Year 15 CGT, after which he resigned and founded the Gree Trade Authority.

Biography

Background

Working as an architect on Gree

Born sometime in Year 19 BCGT to parents Culain and Maeveen on the planet of Charubah, Cuinn was the oldest of three children. Rossalyn and Kelwyn, fraternal twins, were born three years later. Born into a wealthy family, the three enjoyed a privileged childhood and excelled in their schooling. Cuinn would eventually depart to attend the University of Charubah and pursue his adolescent interest in architecture. Seven years of study and lectures and exams later, he graduated with honors in Year 6 CGT with an advanced degree in architectural engineering. Though employment offers were in abundance on Charubah, Cuinn had an itch to travel and explore some of what the galaxy had to offer; he accepted a promising offer from an architecture firm on the distant world of Gree.

His work consumed the next four years, designing and developing numerous settlements growing on the four planets of the Gree system. One of the complex facilities that he had designed was a skyscraper in truth, but acted more like a fortified compound and had many exacting security requirements from the client. It alone had taken the last year to design and the impenetrable level of security and redundant backups intrigued Cuinn, leading him to make the mistake of inquiring about the intended use of the compound. Unfortunately, that client did not appreciate the questions that Cuinn was asking.

Cuinn vanished without warning early in Year 10 CGT, though the exact details of his disappearance have never been made public. A multitude of ridiculous rumors were in constant circulation among his peers and associates, though they died only a few months later. After his reappearance in Year 12 CGT, Cuinn would confide in close friends that he had been abducted and held at a government black site and interrogated for his inquiries, eventually being dumped into a privatized prison on the planet of Malicar. A few months later, he had been sold and transferred to a forced labor camp. He alleges that he eventually organized the workers and rioted, seizing their freedom in an expertly-orchestrated revolt that resulted in the grisly death of every slaver guarding the camp. Among the hundreds of freed prisoners were a handful of Black Sun members, who gratefully offered Cuinn the chance to work for the criminal syndicate and potentially earn a place in their membership. It would be years before Cuinn would discover that the criminal syndicate that he was about to join had been behind his original abduction.

Black Sun

The majority of Cuinn's extensive history with Black Sun has been shrouded in secrecy. What is known is that he is a veteran of both the Woldona VII and Malicar II Development Projects, building homes and jobs for more than 155 billion civilians and creating over 1.05 billion credits in additional monthly revenue for the syndicate. He also fought against the United Rebel Front during the Battle of Axxila, securing complete control of the Ciutric Sector for Black Sun. His loyalty and work ethic were rewarded by both Dark Prince Banquo Knox and his chosen successor, Dark Princess Cait Catra. Before he was forced out in Year 14 CGT, Cuinn was the highest ranking officer-level member of Black Sun, Director of the syndicate’s Recruitment and Training Division, and an Intelligence Officer of Black Watch. He also served as the Chief Operating Officer (2IC) of the Hyrotii Corporation.

Shortly after the Black Sun takeover of Xanxus Drol’s company, The Guild Bank, in early-to-mid Year 14 CGT, Cuinn publicly sold off hundreds of the seized assets for vastly reduced prices compared to the market standard at the time. Cuinn's sales, even at reduced pricing, resulted in a net income of almost 2 billion galactic credits for Black Sun. He was rewarded with a portion of the profits and an extra promotion for his role in the affair along with quickly accomplishing the massive amount of additional work without issue. The large number of sales and unusually low pricing also helped to build his public presence in the trading community.

Despite a career demanding nothing short of respect, one of Alexander von Ismay’s initial moves as the newly-appointed Dark Prince was to force Cuinn out of the syndicate on Day 354 of Year 14 CGT. This was one of the earliest moves in Alexander’s paranoia-induced campaign of accusations and betrayal against his own organization.

Aftermath

After he was forced out of Black Sun in Year 14 CGT, Cuinn returned home to Charubah for the first time in over a decade. He reunited with his family and contemplated retirement, having amassed more than enough credits to comfortably live out the remainder of his life. This comfort and relaxation was cut short with an assassination attempt on his life early in Year 15 CGT.

A trio of would-be assassins infiltrated Cuinn’s family estate, intent on quietly executing him with bladelike precision before destroying the entire compound with thorium charges. Their failure to take Failinis, his warfare-trained vornskr, into account would prove to be their downfall. Their successful entrance into Cuinn’s sleeping chambers was rewarded by the angry vornskr, its whip-like tail subduing one while sharp teeth bit into the throat of another. Awakened instantly by the noise, Cuinn had grabbed his durasteel sword and immediately engaged the remaining assassin. His years of practice and training proved to be more than a match for his opponent as Cuinn managed to disarm his attacker's vibroblade, but this only caused the desperate assassin to prematurely detonate a dozen thorium charges placed around the estate. The resulting explosion ravaged the area, collapsing the building and killing many of the occupants – both of Cuinn’s parents, five cousins, three uncles, two aunts, and a number of family retainers. Cuinn was dragged from the still-collapsing facility by his vornskr and recovered by his brother, Kelwyn, and sister, Culain.

Destruction caused by thorium charges

He awoke a few weeks later in the Athakam MedTech hospital his siblings had rushed him to. Groggy from pain medication and the long slumber, he slowly realized that his arms felt quite differently than he recalled. The medical staff explained the extent of his injuries, including the advanced cybernetic arms that had replaced the badly damaged limbs remaining after the explosion. His left eye had been ripped apart by shrapnel and removed, a cybernetic replacement installed in its place. Fifty percent of his body had been covered by second-degree burns, his chest and arms receiving the majority. Though his arms had been replaced entirely, his chest dermis and epidermis had been supplanted permanently with synthskin. Later conversations with his surviving family would lead to the reviewing of holorecords and the recovered bodies of the assassins, though Cuinn already recognized the tactics due to his extensive experience in Black Sun operations. The forensic tests confirmed what Cuinn suspected – the trio were members of the criminal syndicate, his former employer. Alucard Tepes, a long-term Blades officer, had led the two lower-ranking members, Monte Kase and Ryan Skirata, in the operation.

Cuinn had been blacklisted and declared an enemy of Black Sun by Alexander von Ismay on the first day of Year 15 CGT, the same day as the attempt on his life.

GenoHaradan

Furious over the attack, Cuinn arranged future protection for his remaining family through GenoHaradan and focused his attention entirely on their operations. His experience as a Black Watch intelligence officer proved to be quite useful coupled with his knowledge of Black Sun's operations. He was even able to utilize his expertise in architectural engineering by designing the new shield networks that protect GenoHaradan facilities, along with designing the facilities themselves.

Many a night spent plotting revenge

Using the intelligence they had taken, the GenoHaradan were instrumental in removing Black Sun forces from the Gree System and turning control over to a newly formed system government, the Gree Trade Authority. Nyar and Cuinn, now full-time GenoHaradan operatives, persuaded their colleagues to contract the Mandalorian clan Dael'mor, led by their close friends and former Dark Princesses Cait Catra and Niobe Asha, to assist with taking and holding the system from a plausible Black Sun counterattack, but the criminal syndicate never managed to respond. In exchange for their assistance and continued support, the local government agreed to allow GenoHaradan to freely operate out of the Gree System. Black Sun leader Alexander von Ismay posted a news article informing the galaxy that the system was a gift to the leadership who had handed him his throne.[1] Later on, Alexander would contradict himself and state that the gifts had actually been stolen, declaring a select number of GenoHaradan and Dael'mor members as enemies of Black Sun.[2]

Gree Trade Authority

Chairman of the Gree Trade Authority

A few months after the liberation of the Gree system, Cuinn resigned from his position within the GenoHaradan organization. Working closely with the newly independent citizens of Gree, he helped found the Gree Trade Authority as a system-based government focused on promoting economic growth. Accepting a generous employment offer from the freshly formed Gree leadership council, Cuinn stepped into the role of Chairman and focused on rebuilding the infrastructure that was suppressed during the Black Sun occupation. Designing massive networks of cities, he set the Gree Trade Authority to developing the planets in the system.

Supplemental Information

Description

Cuinn is a Hapan of muscular build standing 1.896 meters in height. Both of his arms have been replaced by advanced cybernetic prosthetics while the dermis and epidermis of his chest have been permanently supplanted with synthskin due to extensive second-degree burns. Prior to the burns and subsequent skin replacement, his torso had worn a lifetime of scars from years spent training and fighting. Post-assassination attempt, there are only few moments where he will shed the protection of his custom-forged set of Heavy Battle Armour and Helmet, though it is usually worn beneath either a synthetic business suit or Morellian oilcoat. An Imperial-built Nightstinger Sniper Rifle hangs on his back, held by a sling around his torso. His custom-forged blade hangs from his belt, sheathed on the right hip. To complement the Nightstinger’s range and his sword’s melee, Cuinn carries a pair of modified ELG-3A blasters, one strapped to his left thigh and the other on the rear of his belt.

Dael'mor Emblem

Mandalorian

His business dealings with the Mandalorian clan Dael'mor only proved to strengthen Cuinn's interest in the Mandalorian culture. Guided by Cait Catra and Niobe Asha, he adopted the Mandalorian way of life and began adhering to the Resol'nare, though he would neither receive invitation nor request membership of any aliit. Standing dar'tome and without any vode, he would adopt a ramikadyc and title of Ruus'alor, intent to carve his own path in the galaxy. Eventually the relationship between Dael'mor and Cuinn would intensify and evolve, leading to an invitation of membership. He readily accepted, joining the secluded Mandalorian clan and taking the offered seat at their table.

Though having only recently a Mandalorian convert, Cuinn has spent a lifetime engaging in training and combat, the experience of which allowed him to easily adjust to the warrior culture. To keep his skills honed, he has hunted a number of different species of dangerous animals such as krayt dragons, acklays and reeks. While employed by Black Sun, he also volunteered for security patrols with The Blades, their military division, and has taken the same practice up with the Gree Trade Authority’s security and law enforcement department.

Educational Background

Cuinn's adolescent interest in architectural engineering led him to the University of Charubah where he pursued and eventually earned an advanced degree in the field, graduating an entire standard year early and at the top of his class. He was able to draw on this education in the future, working for Black Sun to build homes and jobs for more than 155 billion people. Cuinn is currently using his experience to spearhead a development program in the Gree system, creating residences and jobs for the rapidly expanding population of immigrants and refugees on the gaseous world known as Gree IV, where over 40 million new civilians have been taken in and absorbed into the local communities.

Trading Career

Cuinn’s trading career began with the sale of a Nu-Class Attack Shuttle, which was gifted to him, to Leah Asalah on the 331th day of Year 13 CGT. He immediately adopted a profit-based business model and used the liquid capital from his initial sale to jumpstart a starship trafficking business, purchasing derelict vessels for a fraction of their value and restoring them for resale. Since then, his trading business’ public records indicate that he has earned over three and a half billion credits in net profit. Cuinn’s quarterly business reports, however, suggest he has made almost twice that amount. Whatever his actual income, the number is presumably vastly inflated due to the widely-fluctuating market value of starships and his assignment from Black Sun to sell off The Guild Bank's assets in Year 14 CGT.

Veteran Starship Trafficker

As of Y15 D321 T00:00, Cuinn's Centrepoint Space Station trading statistics are:

  • Trade Value: 16,653,650,667 credits
  • Buy Value: 6,596,801,476 credits
  • Sell Value: 10,056,849,191 credits
  • Average: 34,196,408 credits / trade
  • 487 Total Recorded Trades

Armor & Armament

Though heavily outfitted, Cuinn believes in surrounding himself with trustworthy and security-oriented allies since the assassination attempt on his life. A highly cohesive unit of veteran Abyssin soldiers, twelve-strong, serves as his personal escort while in public and otherwise vulnerable locations. His personal Droideka, nicknamed Ver'gebuir, is his constant companion and bodyguard regardless of location.

Personal Assets

Throughout his lifetime, Cuinn has managed to accrue a sizable fortune that partially serves as funding for his growing collection of rarer-than-usual starships. His naval fleet is not listed on any government registry and maintains no standard prefix, but every ship boasts a name in the Mando'a language and typically a paint scheme of dark steel and green, though a few of the ships maintain their own unique image. The following ships are just a few of the more noteworthy craft:

Ke'gyce Keldab
Ramikadyc T'ad
Beskaryc Birikad
Ranov'la Udes
Di'kut Me'sen #3
Hodasal be Iviin'yc
Kov'nynir
Taab'echaaj'la Vod

The flagship of Cuinn's naval fleet, this rare vessel based upon ancient designs is a family relic that was gifted to him upon his graduation from the University of Charubah. While employed by Black Sun, Cuinn utilized Aurora Technologies, and later White Star, to outfit and modify the Veltraa's interior design for a more luxurious and aesthetic appeal along with replacing many of the dated systems with modern technology. The flight-grade repulsorlifts, an unusual fit for a starship its size, allows both atmospheric entry and surface landing capability and combined with its powerful turbolasers, these specifications put the Veltraa into a unique category. When "danger close" turbolaser support is needed during surface combat, the "Ke'gyce Keldab" answers the call with a vigorous amount of firepower. The extremely accurate destruction wrought by twenty turbolasers combined with the monstrous visual that accompanies a massive cruiser inside an atmosphere are enough to turn the tide in any situation.

These sister ships currently serve as the main mobile operations base for Cuinn’s business ventures. The "Ruusaar be Parjai" was purchased from Darian Dash on Day 196 of Year 14 CGT as the direct result of a large credit sum rewarded during his Black Sun employment. It was immediately renovated and modified to meet Cuinn’s business and personal needs by the now-defunct White Star production company. The ship was gutted and had a luxurious interior installed without compromising overall storage capacity and capabilities. Top-of-the-line security systems and reinforced bulkheads were incorporated into the stock design, providing a safe haven for the Black Sun enforcer. The "Lor’vram Haranov" was purchased from Aasfrid Conagan on Day 134 of Year 15 CGT to double operational capacity and act as a tactical decoy. It was modified by an unknown vendor to match the exact specifications of the "Ruusaar be Parjai".

Constructed by an unknown producer in Year 9, the history of this vessel is shrouded by the cloak of Black Sun’s notorious secrecy. Assigned to the defense fleet of the Gree system, the cruiser was captured by Dael'mor in Year 15 CGT during the system’s liberation from the criminal syndicate’s control. It was later gifted to Cuinn as a token of friendship by Cait Catra, Aliit'buir of Dael'mor and former Dark Princess of Black Sun.

One of the major changes Cuinn made after the attempt on his life was to drastically increase personal security, leading to the purchase of these assault transports from Skyla Pendragon in Year 15. Heavily armoured and unusually fast, the trio serve as personal transport for Cuinn when speed, without sacrificing protection, is required. The relatively small size of the transports can assist with avoiding detection while the three different ships, equally loaded with supplies and personnel, make it difficult to determine which is squadron leader Cuinn's ship.

Although its production data has been lost to time, this Sentinel has been a personal favourite of Cuinn's for isolated comfort. Typically parked inside a well-defended area, the retrofitted interior's main purpose is to provide a place of complete relaxation and escape from reality. Other than its overall purpose, not much is known about what takes place inside the landing craft.

  • CR-70 Corvette
    • "Ranov'la Udes" (Production #208414, Unknown Production Date)
Cuinn's favoured Corellian corvette, the CR-70 has served as a luxurious and mobile meeting location for allies and other important individuals. Use of the unarmed corvette has declined due to the unfortunate hostilities with Black Sun, but the ship is never far from Cuinn, who has been known to wander the vessel's corridors seemingly without purpose or destination. He has claimed to just truly admire the design and craftsmanship, believing that if he had become an architectural engineer, he might have chosen to pursue starship design.

Produced by Black Sun through their (now defunct) ship production company White Star, several squadrons of Razors were produced as the result of Dark Prince Banquo Knox purchasing the freedom of Azarin Isard from Cydnee Stultz in Year 13 CGT. Access to the proprietary engineering designs were temporarily gifted to Black Sun by the (now defunct) Anzatan Commonwealth, allowing the production of multiple flights of the restricted fighters. After Dark Princess Cait Catra assumed leadership of the syndicate, many of the squadrons were gifted to the Family Council. One of the squadrons was quietly passed to Cuinn for his unwavering loyalty and service, despite him not being a Vigo. Unfortunately, Cuinn did not rush to retrieve the new treasures, eventually losing access to them when Underlord Alexander von Ismay removed him from the organization. The Underlord decided that because he couldn't personally take legal ownership of the fighters, Cuinn should be denied access to them and even went so far as to declare publicly that Cuinn has stolen them from Black Sun, throwing his name on a "trading ban" list. The "Di'kut Me'sen" Razor Squadron rests on the surface of Malicar, protected and stolen away by a network of Black Sun shield generators.

This expensive interceptor was given to Cuinn during his Black Sun employment as a reward for his unwavering loyalty and service. While the "Ramikadyc" ATR-6 Squadron has replaced the A-Wing as his personal transport due to heightened safety measures, his occasional need for speed is quite sated after flying the fastest non-modified starship in the galaxy.

Produced by and purchased from Andrew Keyes in Year 15 CGT, this heavy hauler satisfied Cuinn's need for a mobile storage depot capable of outperforming his Modular Taskforce Cruisers, which were otherwise tasked to a different business venture. It is currently loaned to the Gree Trade Authority for their various construction projects in the Gree system.

Though a businessman by trade and serious by nature, Cuinn does tend to enjoy the occasional party. When the mood strikes or events call for celebration, this luxury liner provides the perfect atmosphere for festivities and is consistently stocked with everything possibly required for such events. Weaponless and weakly armoured, the ship rarely travels outside of protected areas and as such, the current operational state of its hyperdrive and sublight engines are questionable. The luxurious vessel was reportedly won in a high-stakes game of sabaac sometime in Year 15 CGT, though Cuinn refuses to identify any of the involved parties in the alleged game.

Produced by White Star in Year 15 CGT, Cuinn purchased the "Taab'echaaj'la Vod" directly from the producer despite being explicitly on Black Sun's trade ban list. While it was acquired simply to make a mockery of Underlord Alexander von Ismay's trade ban, the frigate has proved to be more useful than expected due to the strong engineering behind the design. Though it's a powerful warship in its own right, the "Taab'echaaj'la Vod" has excelled as a support ship during naval fleet maneuvers. A second frigate, commissioned as the "Oya'la Vod", was purchased later in Year 15 CGT from Loren Zolo to double the operational capacity as a sister ship to the first.

Metamorphosis Plague

Late in Year 14 CGT, Cuinn was afflicted by unique strain of the Metamorphosis Plague during his travels. Though the plague typically mutates the entire sentient being, he alleges that the plague modified only his DNA and left his visible shell intact. The relevant medical logs have been destroyed, but there is no mistaking that Cuinn retains the physical appearance of a Hapan male while biometric scans of his DNA register as Whiphid. This unique condition causes him an occasional burst of intense physiological pain, rendering him useless for sometimes hours on end. To counter this, Cuinn takes a monthly course of unknown medicinal drugs that are increasingly mitigating the pain to tolerable levels, keeping him functioning during the otherwise crippling periods of suffering.
