Csapla'rey'azani, also known by her birth name Chaf'rey'azani or by the core name Freya, is a female Chiss from the planet Formac currently serving in the military of the Chiss Ascendancy.
Biography
Early Life and Childhood
Freya was born Chaf’rey’azani on Formac, in the Csilla system, deep within Chiss space in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy. Her father, Chaf’iriz’azani, was a career military officer, while her mother, Chaf’ilha’morcasi, served as a prosecutor specialising in criminal law. The family belonged to House Chaf; however, following the Vesci War and the subsequent Chiss Civil Disputes between 37 BCGT and 2 BCGT, much of Freya’s immediate family formally disassociated themselves from the House, including her parents. This decision followed revelations that its leadership had been compromised by the corrupt influence of the Vesci Syndicate, a criminal organisation seeking control of Csilla and the Chiss Ascendancy government as a whole.
Her father died in 9 CGT, just one year after her birth, during the New Republic’s invasion of Chiss space at the Battle of Csilla. Following his death, she was raised primarily by her mother, whose strict traditionalist values shaped much of Freya’s upbringing. Her mother instilled in her a strong sense of pride in her people and the importance of service, raising her to honour Chaf’iriz’azani's legacy and emulate his dedication to protecting their home while demanding excellence in all her pursuits. She expected Freya to distinguish herself from her peers, much as she and Freya’s late father had done during their own educations.
Although Freya rarely allowed it to show and would never have admitted it to her mother, the pressure to live up to her father’s legacy weighed heavily upon her. As she grew older, the expectation that she would match his example contributed to a deepening sense of insecurity within her.
Wandering Year
After excelling in her early education during childhood and adolescence, Freya attended university from the age of 12 at the planet Csilla's capital, Csaplar, where she graduated with a degree in Political Science at age 16. As was tradition among many Chiss, she took a 'wandering year' a short time after graduation, opting to venture outside of the isolated confines of Chiss space to better familiarise herself with the galaxy at large.

Freya can often appear to be quiet at first glance, though this is not born of shyness but rather an analytical desire to understand her surroundings before engaging. Though she harbours no ill will towards the other races of the galaxy and is typically perfectly comfortable around them, her traditional upbringing and education instilled in her a sense of superiority in comparison to the species outside of Chiss space that is difficult to shake off in social situations.
