From The Ashes

From The Ashes refers to events put into motion by the three transmissions sent by retired Grand Admiral Gorn Veynom circa Year 2 Day 326 from the Unknown Regions. Many notable events occurred during this time period such as the merger between The Core and the Dark Empire on Year 3 Day 94. Also, there were several technological breakthroughs including Emperor Charon's Galactic Empire developing the Imperial Escort Carrier.

Background
The era had been marked by turmoil. The Galactic Empire had been contested by the Rebel Alliance and dissident Imperials from the Imperial Core. Hate, fear, anger and death were daily occurrences.
First Transmission
On Year 3 Day 327, a low-quality communication was sent through the Holonet over a rarely used, public channel. Slowly an image appeared, the quality was twisted with parasites and receiving people had to wait for long seconds before recognizing the individual. Then many wished they had not recognized him. For some, he meant hope, for others he only meant fear: Gorn Veynom, the retired Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy.
- "Imperials,
I come to you today with important news for our Empire. I have decided to interrupt my quest in the Unknown Regions in order to communicate to you all some information of the highest importance. The Unknown Regions have delivered some of their secrets to me. On an remote world, I have discovered remains of an old lost civilization and their technology, incredible technology. And I want it to serve our cause, our cause only. I will send more information soon ... but my communications time is extremely reduced to the unique configuration of this solar system. The advantage is that none can track the origin of the transmission. The inconvenient is that I can only use a public channel of the Holonet ...

The image then faded, a evil laugh could still be heard, mixed with parasites.
Second Transmission
Seven days had passed since the mysterious initial transmission from Gorn Veynom was broadcast to the entire Galaxy. During that period, countless operators have been listening to the Holonet day and night, hoping to get something more. The well disciplined Imperials had organized the constant record of all signals sent through the Holonet everywhere in the Empire, the rebels had installed mini Holo-receivers aboard most of their always-in-motion capital starships in order to prevent any disaster, and countless other people were trying to know more in order to track a possible personal profit from the operation.
And suddenly on Year 2 Day 334, all these efforts were paying ... a signal was arriving ... a very disturbed and parasited signal. In fact, the signal was so jammed and full of parasites that only bits could be capted. Historians later gathered that different groups managed to receive more or less information from the transmission. based on their technology.

Records reveal that the Imperial Core was the first group able to complete the missing bits of information and decypher the message within a mere 12 hours of its transmission. Other groups succeeded as well within a few additional days. Ultimately, the entire Galaxy could learn the full content of Veynom's message:
- "Imperials,
The situation here on Marharawen has evolved to a worse. A Jedi Master named Bodo Baas arrived two days ago. Fortunately, the powerful magnetic fields that I suppose to be of Sith origins and that are already hiding my transmission vector, damaged his shuttle beyond repair. I observed him since then, helped and hidden by some old Sith spirits and he is looking to destroy the technology and remnants I discovered.
My untrained powers even coupled with the remaining Sith spirits are not enough to annihilate him definitively. I require and deeply recommend to a powerful Sith warrior to come and eliminate him as soon as possible as I estimate I will not be able to slow down that Jedi scum's researches for more than two standard months.
I hope to get instructions or at least an acknowledgement from Imperials. I will meanwhile think to a safe and coded way to transmit my location through this public channel which is the only way I have." - — Grand Admiral Veynom
The first answer broadcasted through the Galaxy came from Lady Dreighton of the Imperial Core.
Third Transmission
The third transmission arrived on Y3 D 4 of the Galactic New Era. Since weeks, the entire Galaxy had been retaining its breath. Millions of tech-operators had been sitting endlessly in front of their Holonet terminal.
It was not yet dawn on Coruscant and at that hour all Imperial sentinels still struggled against sleep except for Emperor Charon who was already up watching Capital Center through the windows of his Palace, he had an Empire to guide.
Nightfall had barely fallen on Corellia and people got prepared to go out. Tatooine was burned by the noon sun. On Hapes, the King was having is daily royal bath while in the middle of space the Rebel High Command were preparing the next elections. On Dathomir, the governor was sleeping - snoring - and in the shadows of all these important places or individuals were Sith, spying them, watching them, plotting against them.
It was not yet dawn and suddenly the red light signaling an incoming transmission bleeped. Right away, millions of recorders began their task. Thousands of messengers ran to alert their superiors. Among the first alerted people was the King of Hapes. Still in his bath, he sighed, sank his head under the water for a few seconds then stood up on his feet and declared royally:
- "Off with my bath!"

Happily his servants had the appropriate reflex to immediately cover his royal nudity.
The first to read the message was the Emperor. The first? Not exactly. From his Mediation Chamber aboard his flagship, Sith Master Piett had felt something. He knew the incoming transmission was of the highest importance for him and as millions of other operators, he activated the reception.
The third transmission was still awfully japped and full of parasites, making it impossible for anyone or even any group to receive it completely. Moreover, part of the message was encrypted, making it even harder for anyone to decipher. Ultimately, once the message could finally be completed and decrypted, its true meaning was hidden inside riddles that only people close to Gorn Veynom could decipher.

Once the message could be completed and decrypted, it produced the following message:
- "Imperials,
I am rather surprised to receive three answers from three seemingly different Imperial collectives while it should have been unique. As I have not the time or the possibility to decide who should get it, I will reveal the location to the most capable organization.
Considering I have extremely reduced encryption programs here I will not reveal the coordinates of the X-110 system directly. Among my discoveries, I found out a very old limited communications system, probably of Krath origins. I could hide my coordinates in the terminals of the Krath network. And I will use the encryption program of my datapad to give the location of one of the systems where you will find a node of the network. The encryption key is as suggested by Lady Dreighton. The decryption key is the name of one of our oldest Star Destroyers, previously commanded by the Imperial First Lady. Once decoded, switch the coordinates. I am waiting for the best of you.

Solving the riddles was not easy and many simply gave up. However, patience, skills and dedication paid off and the coordinates of X-110 could be deciphered. X-110 was located at (-300, +170).

Upon fading, the holo left a Galaxy in turmoil, except on Dathomir where the governor could not be awaken. He had fur in his ears, of course he was only but a Wookie.
It was not yet dawn and in the Imperial Palace and a Moff was abruptly awaken by the very electronic noise of a small Mouse droid. While the droid was kindly doing its best to sing a “Happy Birthday Quel-Droma”, in an incomprehensible binary language, Kirov Quel-Droma was only irritated by the disturbing noise and grabbed a boot to throw it at the droids. Not being fully awake, his boot missed the droid but reached the huge window, breaking through. The Mouse droid did not insist and left the room quickly. The door was not closed yet that Kirov’s terminal beeped, four messages were waiting for him: first a happy birthday message from his mummy, then a notification that a transmission from Veynom had arrived, then again a Palace report of the window damage and costs being deduced from his next salary, and finally a report from the Palace Guard about a sentinel being attacked by terrorists bombing them with boots. He immediately thought that that particular day would be very very long …
On Year 3 Day 46, Director Ma'karr Quaxo of the Imperial Core posted on the GNS that this third transmission was first decoded by the Imperial Core, then the Hapes Consortium then the Rebel Alliance. The riddles were only solved by the Imperial Core at first followed by the Rebel Alliance. The Imperial Core used the GNS to demonstrate to the galaxy their superiority and the the complete disappointing non-appearance of the Galactic Empire during these events. Such announcement shows how long it took the entire galaxy to know that the message had been decoded and the riddles resolved.
