Rann Halcyon is a Corellian Jedi Knight and a member of the Jedi Order. He currently serves with the Ministry of Defense in the Jedi Coalition.
Early life
Born on Corellia on Year -14 Day 27, Rann Halcyon spent most of his childhood in the city of Tyrena. He was enrolled at the CorSec Academy where he received high marks, however was constantly reprimanded for being tardy. Most of the time, instead of attending class, Rann was off participating in Swoop bike races. He eventually developed a reputation for being an excellent pilot. Due to his constant absence, Rann was expelled from the CorSec Academy.
At the age of 16, not long after his explusion, Rann got a job working on a refuling station, the Blue Wind. This allowed him to further his piloting skills and even learn how to repair ships. Unfortunately, the pay was minimal and the owner of the station would treat the crew unfairly, even cruely at times. Rann eventually grew to dislike his employer.
Pirate's Life
Sometime during Year 3, a group known as the Raptor Pirates entered the Corellian system and seized the Blue Wind. Rann escaped capture by commandeering the only avaliable ship in the station's hangar, a Z-95 Headhunter. The Raptor's dispatched a Y-Wing group to destroy the fleeing fighter.
Rann spent the next several hours outmaneuvering the flight, but was unable to make an escape due to the lack of a hyperdrive on the Headhunter. This caught the attention of the pirate leader, PaulDaJedi. Quite impressed with the display he had seen, Paul ordered the fighter group to cease fire and extended an invitation for Rann to join the pirates. Feeling he had nowhere else to Rann accepted his offer and became a Private in the Raptor Pirate's Navy. Rann went on various missions with the Raptor's, rising up through the ranks over the next several years.
One of Rann's most successful missions occured while he was on a scouting assignment. The sensors of his Y-Wing picked up the presense of a Carrack/S-class Light Cruiser owned by a local smuggling group in that area. Under the orders of PaulDaJedi, Rann ordered his Y-Wing group Blue Flight, to disable to shields of the Carrack and to capture it. An intense battle proceeded, with various fighters flying out of the Carrack's hangar to defend it. After a long firefight, the defending fighters had been destroyed, and the Carrack was captured. As a result of this victory, Paul promoted Rann to Executive Officer of the Raptor Pirates Navy, and awarded him his very first ship, the YT-1300 transport, the Infinity.
Transitional Period
After serving with the Raptor Pirates for more than 2 years, Rann began to feel morally conflicted with the choices he had made. On a raid in the Sullust system, the Raptors were to capture a local space station, much like the one that lead to Rann joining the pirates. The station was owned by a family, and met with resistance from the father. He attacked several of the pirates before he was subdued with the rest of his family. As the Raptors obtained whatever loot they could, Rann was given the order to execute the entire family, including the children. While the others were looting, Rann ordered the family onto the Infinity and helped them escape. He turned them over to the New Republic who helped relocate them.
Officially AWOL from the Raptor Pirates, Rann joined the mining operation, Nikklon Mining Incorporated. It was there he became good friends with the owners, Jeff Corbin and his brother Typhon Corbin. During this time, Rann oversaw mining and construction operations, performed system scans, as well as participated in developing several tax planets.
The Birth of a New Government
In Year 9, due to the income from the new tax planets, as well as the end of the Dellalt Conflict, Nikklon Mining Incorporated announced the formation of a new government, Tion Hegemony, lead by Jeff Corbin. Because of his dedication and services, Rann was appointed as one of the Vigos of the new government, as well as given a small tax planet to operate.
New Anzat Order War
Tensions between Tion Hegemony and the New Anzat Order began to heat up. In response to the Dellalt Conflict, Tion Hegemony decided put an end to Wilhelm von Ismay's reign. Troops were dispatched to Maldrood, the New Anzat Order's home sector. With help from the Mandalore government, Rann and many others fought in several campaigns to gain control of the sector. Rann personally oversaw the arrest and capture of many Anzati forces. Finally, on Year 10 Day 141, a treaty was signed and the war was over.
Trials of a Jedi
Several months after the war, Jeff Corbin discovered he was force sensitive, and stepped down as Lord Hegemon on Tion Hegemony to pursue the life of a Jedi. It was at this time, that Jeff Corbin requested that the Jedi Council force test other members of Tion Hegemony. Jedi Masster Terak Falcor arrived in the Dellalt system and force tested several people, including Rann. It was concluded that among the ones tested, Rann was the only one that was force sensitive. Rann took a leave of absense from Tion Hegemony to train as a Jedi.
As time went on, Rann became more and more attuned with the force. Finally the time had come for Rann to build his own lightsaber. He returned to his home planet of Corellia to construct it. Finding his old Swoop bike, he took the throttle off of it and used that as the base of the lightsaber hilt. After several intense weeks of concentration, Rann thumbed the activator switch and with a powerful hum, a brilliant silver blade emerged from the hilt.
Rann was recommended by his master to participate in the Knight trials. The most challenging trial he faced was the Trial of the cave. He had seen a vision of members of the Jedi Order fighting against Typhon Corbin and other members of Tion Hegemony. He was forced to choose a side. Rann maintained his calm and neutralized the attacking members of Tion Hegemony. After this final trial, he was appointed the rank of Jedi Knight.
