Kona Jaan is a free-spirited Qiraash, seeking a new purpose in life. Initially bound to the order and structure of the Galactic Empire, Kona showed exceptional skill as a soldier in the Imperial Army and eventual Imperial Intelligence officer, before a failed operation brought her career to a sudden end. As she stumbled into a world of drugs, booze, and exotic dancers, she was thrust out of her structured society and tossed into a prison cell. Upon her release, she found herself in the middle of farmland, nurturing Red Spice with Lara Navos, while she slowly attempted to find her new space in society. A skilled analyst and reconnaissance operative, Kona is someone who looks to identify every possible detail before making a move, something that has inevitably caused her downfall more than once.

A Familiar Story

Deformed

Kona Jaan was born at the home of Jani Jann on Kuar II with the Koro-Teta sector. Due to her mothers' numerous consorts and sexual partners, a father was never identified, however, due to Kona's features, the paternal father was evidently a humanoid race. Her birth was part of a small Qiraash ceremony, following her mothers' ideals, however, the usual physique of a Qiraashian skull was not apparent, instead Kona's skull adopted a rather unusual figure as if her genetic makeup was unable to decide between humanoid or alien physiques. Undergoing surgery as an infant, Kona's skull was reconstructed via the aid of several modified FX-7 Medical Droids, allowing her to adopt a more humanoid shape. Scarring formed around numerous incision sights at the back of her skull, resulting in a lack of hair growth as a child. While other children looked at her scars and baldness with ridicule, Kona quickly formed a thick skin in her early years, forming the personality of a sheltered introvert, but able to withstand the usual childish attitudes of those immature individuals around her.

As the Kona and her mother rarely traveled during her childhood, the Qiraash spent her childhood learning various Imperial ideals from the governing body of the planet, while being exposed to numerous conflicts, both physical and political, as numerous uprisings from followers loyal to the Mandalorian ideals continued to question the legislative bodies of the planet. Kona was taken to various demonstrations by her mother throughout her childhood, where they showed support for Imperial governance and the opportunity for enhanced infrastructure and development, instead of the potential of a new body taking control and having an unknown quantity controlling their livelihoods. Through the support, Jani decided to send Kona to the Imperial academy at a young age, having her dispatched to boarding schools throughout the nearby systems before she was able to enlist at the Imperial Academy at the age of eighteen.

Assigned as part of the Sixth Brigade of the Third Imperial Legion after her graduation from the Imperial Academy, Kona began to develop a specialization for reconnaissance and investigation. As she began to cover parts of her body with various floral tattoos, she made the conscious decision to no longer adopt the look of a balding individual, adopting the use of numerous wigs to customize her appearance beneath the helmet of her armor, harboring a desire to fit in more with common society. As she served under numerous commanding officers, her skill and dedication saw her achieve numerous promotions and commendations over her years of service, culminating in the completion of Operation Sovereign Canopy on Derra IV. After various engagements against overwhelming odds saw Kona and the Sixth Brigade among others conquer their entrenched enemy, her field commission was promoted to the rank of Major and she began to explore additional opportunities. With a desire to remove herself from the frontline conflicts of the Army, she began to explore an opportunity that was made to her within Imperial Intelligence.

With the transition complete during the fifteenth galactic year, Kona undertook the rigorous training program, further enhancing the investigative skills she had gained from her time with the Sixth Brigade. Upon her certification as an Intelligence Agent, commissioned with the rank of Junior Agent, Kona served the agency under the leadership of Elvira Falston, initially serving as a liaison between intelligence and her previously assigned Third Imperial Legion for several months. Stationed around Imperial space with various army deployments, Lara was inevitably deployed on counter-intelligence operations, tasked with infiltrating local government operations to overthrow anti-Imperial ideals from within. One assignment drew her back to her home of Kuar II, when the previously small insurrections against Imperial ideals had grown, with the local populous uniting under the flag of Mandalore. As Koar was able to use her childhood knowledge to infiltrate the inner circles of the cause, she was soon conflicted when demonstrators began to clash through her misinformation, putting her mother in harm's way. Kona tried to focus her misinformation efforts throughout districts that her mother was unable to venture to, but her mothers' persistence drew her into the firing line of protestors.

At the precipice of the political conflict, Kona planted evidence within Imperial aligned broadcasts showing the Mandalorian leadership accepting bribes and aide from criminal organizations, focusing protestors at the Kuari II Outpost while she attempted to hack governmental protocols to allow forces to land and take key military installations that would inevitably cause the planet to realign with the Imperial cause. The protests erupted causing millions in property damage, with significant injuries on both sides, with Jani, in particular, suffering several wounds. While her mother attempted to make contact, Kona was exposed during her infiltration attempts, forcing her to withdraw from the government facilities and exposing her as an infiltration agent. As the Qiraash barely escaped from the outpost without a set of stun cuffs on her wrists, she quickly became distraught when she returned to her childhood home to find her mother deceased. As she attempted to revive her mother in vain, Kona felt a deep sense of failure as she not only was unsuccessful in aiding in the removal of the Mandalorian government from Kuar II, but her efforts inadvertently killed her own mother.

Devastated by her actions, she boarded her assigned Imperial vessel, a Lambda-class T-4a Shuttle hidden in the forests several clicks away from the main outpost, and planned her return to Coruscant and how she would explain her failures to Intelligence Command, and Director Seele in particular. Reprimanded and placed on administrative leave for her failure, Kona began to assess her choices in life having suffered the devastating loss of her mother, effectively by her own hand, and her first professional failure in the eyes of the Galactic Empire. As she passed her twenty-sixth birthday, she had lost the passion she once had for the Imperial ideals. Less discipline and order followed her around, Kona instead began spending more of her time in cantinas for hours on end, spending what income she had accumulated as an officer on various escorts and dancers throughout the Imperial underbelly, spending the majority of her time inside the walls of Coruscant's Club Kasakar. Drinking and dancing now occupied her days, with a tribunal still to review her case. Over the course of several weeks, Kona was beginning to explore herself more, free of the shackles of order as she began to assume her disciplinary findings would not return a result in her favor. As she developed a number of simultaneous relationships with several off-duty Imperial officers, she found herself developing a reliance on drugs and alcohol to get through the days, along with a self-diagnosis of nymphomania. Throughout these relationships she failed to maintain control of regulations on numerous occasions, adding various citations to her record, along with the cardinal sin of revealing several of her assignments within the Galactic Empire to several Imperial enlisted personnel she was pleasuring herself with. As her actions were reported through Imperial channels, she was fired from Imperial Intelligence, while also charged with numerous summary offenses under the Imperial Criminal Code. Through her actions, she was dishonorably discharged from Imperial service and sentenced to three months imprisonment at an Imperial facility.

Shameful

Shackled and alone without the order of an Imperial directive, and a shame in the eyes of her deceased mother, Kona spent three months locked in a dark cell aboard a Lictor-class Dungeon Ship which had been subcontracted to house military criminals on behalf of the Galactic Empire. Unable to step foot on solid ground, Kona was tasked with maintaining the Docking Bay on the base level of the ship, ensuring the durasteel floor of the bay was pristine. She was rarely able to fraternize with fellow inmates due to her knowledge of recent Imperial operations, instead kept in solitary for the sake of security. While her sentence was minimal considering the alternatives, it still felt like an eternity to the Qiraashi, who was suffering drug and alcohol withdrawals. As her sentence concluded, Kona was returned to Coruscant and quarantined under house arrest for another year. As her knowledge of Imperial protocols and current assignments began to age beyond the point of concern, she was allowed to venture out into a small part of society on the planet, finding herself back at the familiar grounds of Club Kasakar. While she appreciated watching both male and female dancers alike, she had begun to appreciate the more exotic of dancers, in particular, Yasira Shran who was the headline act of the club. As the Qiraash observed the tantalizing moves of the Twi'lek, she felt arousal inside her grow, and with her tenancy for enjoying pleasure at a high standard, Kona wanted to experience what the famed alien had to offer.

An captured moment between Kona and Yasira

Given her recent imprisonment and personal dramas, Kona's confidence had taken a bit of a hit. Instead of relying on her talents of flirtation to close the deal, she decided to take the easy approach and offered a substantial sum of credits to buy the Twi'lek's company. With credits changing hands, Kona was able to enjoy the company of Yasira across several rendezvous, putting off the dilemma of finding a new purpose in life for as long as possible. Understanding that despite any potential feelings that would arise, nothing would come in regard to a relationship, Kona was able to enjoy the experience without drifting into the realm of entanglement. She also appreciated the Twi'lek's willingness to discuss Kona's personal situation and offer some advice on what to do with her life given the loss of all structure, even taking some guidance from the force on the matter.

With a final transaction completed, Kona thanked Yasira for her company, having made the decision not to follow the Twi'lek to her next adult establishment. Kona had finally been released from her house arrest, and immediately purchased a small 578-R Space Transport from a local trader and left the sprawling metropolis of Coruscant. Instead of adopting a known destination, Kona let the assigned FA-4 Pilot Droid pick a random destination, not phased at her eventual destination. After five days of staring at the blue hue of hyperspeed, the vessel dropped out of hyperspace and orbited that planet of Ord Cantrell. While its government was under the watchful eye of the piracy group Eidola and the Cantrell Conglomerate, Kona had no interest in following her previous path of law and order or sharing outdated intelligence. She instead wanted a quieter lifestyle while she figured out what she wanted to pursue in the galaxy. She had a keen investigative mind and a knack for analysis but wanted something less stressful to fill her days. As the 578-R Space Transport touched down on the surface of the planet, she ventured out toward the farmland the occupied the northeast jungles of the planet in search of somewhere to call home.

After a meeting with Harmonia de Chatillon, the overseer of farmland on Ord Cantrell, Kona understood quickly that the farms were primarily responsible for the main vegetation that fed the planet, along with the growth of its Red Spice trade. She expressed to de Chatillon that she was starting life anew and was unsure of what lay ahead for her. The Kiffar showed signs of sympathy and understood Kona's plight, providing her with a small plot of land with an adjacent property to live while she found her way, under the condition should assist in operations as a source of payment for the accommodations. She was also informed that she would not be the only one occupying the property, and would need to assist the other house guest. As she acknowledged and agreed to the arrangement, Kona took what belongings she brought with her to the planet, dismissing the droid and providing it with instructions to return to Coruscant and sell the vessel on her behalf, providing the astromech with a deposit code for her funds as a transfer location.

As Kona watched the vessel depart the planet, leaving her stranded at her new abode, the Qiraashi crossed the jungles to her new home. Upon her arrival, Kona placed her belongings in the second bedroom, before she finally crossed paths with her fellow tenant. She understood the individual to be Lara Navos, a Kuati who had recently been through numerous personal struggles and she herself was starting a new life. Having spent approximately six months in isolation with minimal guests, Kona was impressed that the woman had been able to remain sane. She spent the next several weeks learning from Lara how the Red Spice was created, and how the land was maintained to ensure optimal growing conditions for both the drug and the surrounding vegetation. They worked together to maintain the farmland, growing Kona's skills to a level where she could complete farming operations without supervision, providing optimal efficiency toward Red Lotus operations.

Given their similar situations and familiar joys in life, the two isolated individuals developed a sexual relationship together when not working on the farmland, without forming an official attachment. Kona soon appreciated the irony when Lara invited Yasira Shran to visit, with the Twi'lek and Kuati both equally bemused at how small the galaxy truly was. The three sentients were inseparable during Yasira's brief stay at the farm, each growing closer with the other as a result. As the Twi'lek departed, Kona approached Lara with the idea of continuing to work together, something that made Lara initially hesitant. The Kuati lacked confidence and felt her outlook on life-changing after recent trauma that she had endured, and was hesitant to fall back into the same habits as before. With no desire to suddenly decide on her future endeavors, Kona expressed that she was more than happy to continue her quiet farming lifestyle until Lara had reached a decision on where she felt comfortable proceeding in the next phase of her life. With an agreement reached between the two, Kona continued to aide Lara with her personal journey on the farms of Ord Cantrell until they were both ready to turn the proverbial corner and decide on their next move in the galaxy.

The Intricacies of Kona

Kona is a short Qiraash, born with a deformity that made her adopt the form of a standard humanoid. Tattoos on the back of her skull hide numerous surgery scars, while she adopts a variety of wigs to hide the baldness of her skull. She is a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac and had regularly struggled to keep control of herself when under the influence of drugs and alcohol, making her a target for rival agents as a form of intelligence. Openly bisexual, Kona has maintained numerous relationships with both genders, humanoid and alien alike, showing no prejudice toward any particular individual. She is burdened with an Imperial arrest record and a dishonorable discharge from duty, casting a shadow of her whenever she ventures into Imperial-aligned space.
