The Máurari Blackguard is a Force-using group within Black Sun, serving as the Black Sun Family Council's extension into matters of the Force. Founded by Edhrikhor Tlakh`sar, it blends the philosophy of the original Máurari sect with the doctrine of the ancient Blackguard.
History
The Máurari Blackguard traces its lineage to two Force traditions, each shaped by collapse and reinvention.
The first, Máurari, was established by the former Dark Prince Ingo R. Vailis during his time within Black Sun. It was founded to cultivate Force adepts loyal to the Family and devoted to serving its will. Despite its initial promise, the sect faltered. Betrayal from within led to Vailis losing control, and over time, Máurari became inactive. Its members drifted away, and its doctrine faded into obscurity.
The second origin lies in the ancient Blackguard, formed by Vulta Daanat, a survivor of the Brotherhood of Darkness and former apprentice of Lord Skere Kaan. The Blackguard rejected conventional Force ideologies, seeking knowledge through isolation and self-discipline. Its teachings endured in fragments, passed down through scattered traditions long after the sect itself vanished.
The reformation of these legacies began with the return of Edhrikhor Tlakh`sar. A loyal figure within the Family, he was appointed Vigo of Máurari by the Black Sun Family Council. Rather than rebuild what had failed, he dismantled the remnants and redefined the sect from its foundations. Drawing from his studies of the Blackguard and what remained of Máurari's original structure, he created a new Force tradition aligned with the Family’s vision. The Máurari Blackguard became not just a rebranded sect but an active arm of Black Sun, loyal in purpose and deliberate in practice.
In Year 21, after serving six years as Vigo of Máurari, Edhrikhor Tlakh`sar stepped down from his roles as Vigo and Grand Magister. Leadership passed to Corvis Orion, a former Dark Prince of Black Sun, under whose guidance the order continues to evolve while remaining grounded in the foundation established by his predecessor.
Beliefs
The Máurari Blackguard hold that expanding one’s understanding of the Force requires engagement with the philosophies and techniques of traditions across the galaxy. Members are often spread across different regions in pursuit of this knowledge. The order rejects the binary of light and dark, asserting that balance lies within the practitioner. They approach the Force as a pragmatic tool rather than a spiritual path, applying it in service to the Black Sun Family Council.
Leadership
The Máurari Blackguard is currently led by Vigo Corvis Orion, who succeeded Edhrikhor Tlakh`sar. The Vigo of Máurari is charged with overseeing the collective’s Force development and all significant Force-related decisions. Supporting this role is the Grand Magister’s advisory body, composed of three Magisters.
