Daxx Krynn is a Nautolan male from the planet Glee Anselm. He roams the Galaxy as a Bounty Hunter in the Bounty Hunters Guild, sponsored by the venerable House Salaktori.

Description

"The galaxy is an ocean of stars, a sea of opportunity; you just gotta be ready to swim."
— Daxx Krynn

Daxx Krynn stands just over six feet tall. His lean, muscular body is sheathed in cobbled-together carbon-scored durasteel armour. His green skin is dark and speckled from years under hot suns and freezing shadows across the galaxy. Twelve thick head-tails hang behind from his head and across his shoulders, a few adorned with carefully maintained bone and coral beads or rusted rings from past hunts.

His otherwise sharp, angular face has the deep-set black eyes typical of his Nautolan brethren. Small ridges of scar tissue run along his right cheek, almost slicing into his right eye, and down to a jaw that is often clenched. His lips are drawn in a line that hints at a certain severity of nature, if not for some wrinkled smile lines dancing near his cheeks.

He wears a tightly-cinched and versatile utility cloak draped proudly off his shoulders. Within is concealed a small arsenal depending on the job at hand - vibrodaggers, a dart pistol, or any other manner of so-called 'tools of the trade'. More often than not a battered carbine rifle is slung over a shoulder, complementing the blaster pistol nestled snugly into a holster on a well-worn tactical belt. Around his neck is a simple cord and a small, intricately carved coral token - a token of remembrance of a life long past.

Daxx moves with the smooth, easy motion of a sea predator - silent and precise or furious when needed. But there is something in the heaviness of his posture, a falter in his gait - an echo of bereavement, of loss, and perhaps, a beleaguered conscience.

Biography

Holocron Archival Note: Few entirely verifiable Galactic Holocron records exist regarding this individual before the events of Y26 D160. Details prior to this date - including his birth date, and rudimentary personal history on his homeworld - are drawn from the triangulation of data scrapes of entries across market sales records, ship crew lists, and other sparse miscellaneous sources. It is known that 'Daxx Krynn' is an alias adopted by the subject some time after he left his homeworld. His Nautila birthname is presently unknown.

Early Life

"We ain't buying those heaps of scrap! I know enough about speeders to know they're all Jawa junk."
— A young Krynn, negotiating a purchase on behalf of the Pieralos Trading Syndicate on Glee Anselm.

Daxx Krynn was born on the Nautolan homeworld of Glee Anselm in a declining mercantile town nestled in the cool northern reaches of the world. Born into a family of oceanic traders, he received an adequate education until the family's already unsteady fortunes began to mirror the port's rapidly diminishing economic outlook. For the rest of his childhood, his view of the world began and finished in the leased warehouse that his family had previously owned outright. Cooped up for the entire working week and many hours around that, he did what he could to feign enthusiasm when helping to prop up the future of his family.

Glee Anselm. A drop in an ocean of stars.

When he neared coming of age he fled the provincial northern port for one of the largest cities on Glee Anselm, the semi-aquatic Nautolan capital, Pieralos. A city with a major space port and bustling economy, Daxx found it difficult to acclimatise to the urban maze he found himself in. He found work at the Pieralos Trading Company, which acted as a broker and supplier of a variety of manufactured goods necessary for intergalatic commercial operations. Massive industrial development on the planet, firstly by the Galactic Empire, then XXX Miners offered exponentially promising future opportunities for the eager-to-learn migrant.

The credits he was able to spare to send home was never enough, however, and his family's prospects continued to dwindle. This was until an offer was presented to his parents by a successful provincial trading corporation in the north. The lease on their warehouse and all goods would be purchased, most of the family would receive adequate payment as corporate employees, and Daxx would be offered a potentially lucrative mercantile apprenticeship role. Stability, security, and safety, at last...

A 578-R Space Transport, similar to the passenger ships that ran regular routes off-world from Pieralos. Aboard one of these ships, Daxx took to the stars for the first time.

This arrangement, however, hinged on one condition - that a marriage was arranged between Daxx and one of the provincial player's several daughters. An adequate residence would be provided for the pair to raise a family in, tying the still-youthful Nautolan to the company and to that place for a lifetime. Stability, security, and safety. All absolutely suffocating...

The betrothal was agreed. The deal had been struck. His dear family's future seemed certain for the first time in his life. The guilt that hung over Daxx like a thick stormcloud ready to burst must have been near unbearable, as he watched his homeworld shrink into the darkness of space from the window of the transport ship. He was responsible for only himself now; and for the decisions he had made.

Life Beyond Glee Anselm

"What, me? I won't breathe a word... I'm here to work and I'll pull my weight, just take me on."
— Krynn taking on a job aboard a freighter leaving Coruscant.

Daxx Krynn departed Glee Anselm aboard a commercial transport under false pretenses - the apprentice’s berth had been filled, his family appropriately compensated, and celebratory feast already planned. But Daxx had disappeared in the night, leaving behind only a brief note scrawled in a Nautila dialect his family hadn't spoken in years. In truth, it was less of a message and more of a final whisper: a rejection of obligation, of expectations - of the life laid out for him like netting ready to be drawn tight.

The JC-0301 Orbital Habitat geostationary above Sullust where Krynn found anonymous work for a period of time.

His first steps beyond his watery world were hesitant. The salt winds and warm seas of Glee Anselm gave way to the dry, carbon-tainted air of transit hubs and overcrowded waystations. He drifted for a time, never staying longer than necessary. From the bleak orbital habitats above Sullust to the rusting port domes of Ord Mantell he followed half-truths and shadowy offers to wherever there was need for a strong back and a quiet mouth.

He worked as cargo crew for itinerant merchant convoys, helping to load and unload shipments too sensitive for automated cranes. He scrubbed hulls, patched conduits, and learned more about spacer knots and vacuum seals than most planet-born ever would. Among the grizzled crew and calloused-skin drifters, he learned quickly to listen more than speak; and when he did speak, to make sure every word mattered.

It was in these formative years that he began to understand the wider galaxy - not through textbooks or official channels, but through whispered gossip in cantinas, scarred hands over cheap sabacc tables, and the quiet pain behind old soldiers’ eyes. Wars had left their marks on every soul he met, even those born long after the battles had ended. He began to see the web of power and violence that stretched across systems like a taut mesh, catching anyone who strayed too far from their place.

The Errant Pride in flight over Tatooine.

The latter part of these early years in the galaxy were spent aboard the Errant Pride, an independent YT-1300 freighter run by a pair of ex-Trade Federation engineers turned smugglers. Daxx learned mechanical basics there, including the delicate rhythms of hyperspace maintenance and the ugly truths of dealing with customs bribes and pirate tolls. They never asked questions about his past, and he never offered answers. But in time, they came to trust him enough to let him handle dealings on unstable outposts in more lawless parts of space; a dry run, perhaps, for the kind of work he would later turn toward.

"Two--three... no, four Abyssins... This'll be fine... just fine... Guys, now list--look... okay, c-calm down..."
— Krynn failing to settle a difference of opinion with disgruntled bootleggers on Ylesia.

There were close calls. A reactor meltdown on a drifting fuel rig. A particularly nasty scuffle with several Abyssins in a back alley on Ylesia that left him with a blade wound across his forearm. One brutal night on a mining station above Alzoc III, where he fought off a crew mutiny with nothing but a rebreather tank and a jagged pipe. Each encounter carved away at something soft in him, replacing it with something sharper, more enduring.

And yet, not all was grim. There were moments of calm: a starlit swim in the methane seas of Skye; the deep, rumbling laughter of a Besalisk mentor who taught him how to field-strip an energy carbine blindfolded; a quietly shared meal in a cramped crew bay with a captivating Zeltron stowaway who never gave her name, but left behind a melody he would hum for years after.

Though he carried no flag, no badge, and no formal calling, Daxx was becoming something in those years; not quite a soldier, and not yet a hunter. But something harder than he had been, and quieter too. The ocean-born youth from a despondent trading town in the northern reaches of Glee Anselm was gone. In his place, a man learning to live - to survive - between the cracks of the galactic order. Watching. Waiting. Preparing.

Changing Currents

The chaotic isolation of the Unknown Regions, where Daxx found himself in Year 26.
"It better be a remarkable payday if we're heading into Wild Space again..."
— Varr, Kel Dor mechanic of the Errant Pride, commenting on a particularly risky smuggling contract.

By sometime in mid-Year 26, the Errant Pride looked several decades older than it ought to and felt like it too. Her bulkhead seams leaked when she hit atmosphere too fast, and the navcom chirped erratically in some unknown corruption of binary. But for Krynn and the oddball crew who patched her together day after day, she was at least some measure of home.

They were running crates of off-the-books med-stims to a burgeoning mining colony in Wild Space, dangerously close to the Unknown Regions... few others would be foolish, or desperate, enough to take on such a contract. Despite the dangers, it seemed to be going well. They were on their third trip from known space in the Outer Rim to the Wild Space colony when a ship appeared on the Errant Pride's scanners, approaching at rapid speed. No warning, no hail. Just the sudden flicker of failing lights and a shriek of metal splitting apart. A pirate cutter - an old Separatist build, still flying the rusted insignia like some half-remembered threat - tore into them like they were nothing.

Daxx had been in the crawlspace below the middeck, checking coolant lines. The first blast knocked him off his feet. The second ripped a hole in the galley. By the time he pulled himself up top, smoke choked the corridors and blaster fire echoed through the ship. The ship's captain didn’t make it out of the cockpit. Varr, the old Kel Dor mechanic who could rig a fuel valve with chewing gum and pure spite, held the engineering bay with a blowtorch until they shot him in the back. One by one, the crew went silent over comms. Daxx had been shot and was bleeding from somewhere under his ribs, but this barely registered on his senses as the universe seemed to be collapsing around him. Every part of the ship was screaming, almost wrenching apart. The only thing left to do was run.

The mangled YT-1300 escape pod, lost in the frigid wilds of Darkness Prime.

He won't remember yanking the pod lever in panic, or the rush of light as the launch seals blew. Just pain, then cold, and then the hard slap of consciousness as he came to, half-crushed in a wrecked escape pod, deep in some frost-choked ravine. Darkness Prime, the console blinked faintly, as he fell in and out of consciousness. No signal. No warmth. Nothing but wind and the long, sharp cry of something hunting in the frigid tundra.

Everyone else was gone. Daxx Krynn was very much alive; but very much alone.

Danger and Debt on Darkness Prime

"VMC, where your health is our main concern.™"
— Corporate slogan of Valkraem Medical Concern, Darkness Prime.

Krynn was found half-frozen, a few days from death, buried in the mangled wreckage of the escape pod. He remembered little of this time: flashes of firelight; muffled voices in strange accents; the sting of needles and the weight of thick furs pressing down on his chest. Then blackness again... then nothing at all.

When he finally awoke in a hospital bed with the thick smell of bacta filling his senses, it was Day 160. A soft, flickering light hummed above him, casting shadows on walls of repurposed permacrete. A name was stitched into the blanket swaddling him like a new planet-born: Valkraem Medical Concern. One of the few functioning factions left in Star City - isolated Darkness Prime’s largest true settlement, if you could even call it that.

An Akk Dog, one of many beasts lurking in the wilds of Darkness Prime.

The Concern, he learned, was less of a hospital or medical enterprise and more of a salvaged biotech firm kept alive by barter, the cynical exchanging of favours, and aggressively enthusiastic billing. They’d patched him up: rebuilt the worst of the breaks; sealed the burns; and replaced the shattered bone in his leg with something stronger. They’d saved his life and, in doing so, billed it to a growing debtor account he’d never agreed to open.

Daxx walked gingerly again after a week, and by Day 171 he was holding a rifle. Not by choice… debtors didn’t get to be picky, not on Darkness Prime. ‘’The Concern’’ had enemies, and the surrounding wilderness was full of worse. Razorbeaks, akk dogs, cliff-lurkers, wild packs of black-furred predators that hunted without sound made up some of the local wildlife. Then there were the bandits - starved men with frostbitten hands and rusted weapons, more dangerous for having nothing to lose.

"The fangs in the mouths of wave-divers on Glee Anselm are pin-pricks compared to the chompers on these damn things."
— Krynn, bandaging the arm of a trader shredded by the teeth of a freshly-killed Akk Dog.
Jun Ara, Caamasi mayor of Star City.

Without freedom over his own fate, he worked. He tracked. He fought. He protected outlying homesteads, escorted supply runs, picked off whatever crept too close to Star City, on behalf of the city’s mayoralty and in favour of those he owed debts to. With a bit of uncharacteristic good fortune, this local governor took some measure of pity on the battered Nautolan and provided some assistance in speeding up the settling of his unreasonable debt. There was hope for the plucky Krynn, yet.

As a result of the medical cocktail coursing through his veins, his body recovered much faster than his mind. In scarce still hours, he caught himself humming a melody he couldn’t place — a habit from a time that already felt like someone else’s story. An opportune encounter in the city’s police department meant he picked up a seized 578-R Space Transport and some worse-for-wear S-250 Chela Starfighters at a drastically discounted rate. He’d have something, at least, once he left the damnable planet.

On Day 179, he cashed out what he could: a few thousand credits; a dented carbine; and a half-spent medikit. His debt had been paid but it wasn't gone, not really. Either way, the harsh wilds of Darkness Prime had taken enough from him and he made plans to continue treading his own path. When the freighter finally lifted off, this time, he had no intention of looking back.

The Galaxy's Newest Bounty Hunter

"Let the Guild hereafter be unto you as your mother and father.
Let this house stand with you as a friend in need.
Let this home forever take pride in you as a lover who delights in your prowess...
"
— Excerpt from the Creed of House Salaktori.
The ancient crest of House Salaktori.

Krynn had a destination typed carefully into the navcomp of the recently-purchased 578-R Space Transport, nicknamed The Orca, as he left Darkness Prime's atmosphere. Co-ordinates to a deep space outpost managed by House Salaktori blinked on the screen, calling him to satisfy the agreement made with the master of the bounty hunting house, Rick Bender. It was during his time on Darkness Prime that Krynn, with some good fortune, first came into contact with Rick Bender of House Salaktori.

The House Salaktori YT-2000 light freighter, the Hotspur Aurek, flying above Voltare.

House Salaktori was an ancient name within the Bounty Hunters Guild, wrapped in layers of influence, centuries of loyalty, and well-leveraged favours across many generations of bounty hunters. It was through the extensive network of house allies that Bender must have heard whispers - talk of a Nautolan who survived Darkness Prime, a pirate attack in Wild Space, weeks of convalescence and senseless violence. More important though were the whispers that reached the master bounty hunter of a man with no debts to repay, no affiliations, and no illusions about the true nature of the Galaxy. He gave Daxx a quiet and sincere offer: House Salaktori sponsorship to join the Bounty Hunters Guild, including a trained bounty hunter crew fully equipped for planatery combat, a YT-2000 light freighter, and a speeder barge to take them to their prey. This would quickly prove to be more than enough for the plucky Nautolan to begin his journey in the Galaxy.

Taking on his new mantle of the newest scion of House Salaktori, Krynn was sent to a frontier world in the Outer Rim barely holding onto Guild presence. There, he met Daargin - a Bounty Contract Broker with a smile like a vibroblade and the patience of a Corellian sandcat. Daargin didn't waste time on pleasantries. He tossed Krynn his first acquisition target with a bounty puck and a shrug. No ceremony. No explanation. A name, a puck, and a bounty tracking fob.

A Nautolan artist's depiction of the Linhe'Ta Reef in the tropical equatorial shallows of Glee Anselm. A rare natural paradise untouched by forced planetary industrialisation that Krynn can now only dream of visiting.

The first few jobs and the hunt for them bled together: an ex-security officer who defrauded millions of credits from their employer; and a pilot-turned-smuggler wanted for screwing over the wrong death-stick trading syndicate. Krynn hunted them with clean precision. He didn't need to speak much, they were only acquisitions, not people. He didn't leave a mess. Daargin liked that.

With a few bounties to his name and credits flowing into his account, on Year 26 Day 195, he made a quiet detour in the Inner Rim. Back home - Glee Anselm. His return was deliberately unannounced, unceremonious. He did all that he could to ensure his family didn't know he had returned to his homeworld and when he arrived he found that Pieralos hadn't changed, not really. It was still the same semi-aquatic sprawl of coral-stone and durasteel, with the same tired faces in city markets he used to flit through. He knew he had to stay low and keep the trip brief so he hired a berth for two days, and sent a message out through some of the taverns in the city he was familiar with.

Twelve Nautolans answered. Some had fought in the faction-wars that so often brought conflict to Glee Anselm or had contributed to the Galactic Civil War, some were - for one reason or another - leaving a life behind them that they'd rather forget, and others were just kids with scars, no direction, and an eagerness to make something of themselves. All of them wanted something more. Krynn didn't give them speeches or inspiration, he offered weapons and purpose. A chance to build something of their own.

Proud of their shared heritage, he called them the Nautila Hunters. They bore no corporate slogans, no family crests. Just a crew of cold-eyed would-be warriors united under the banner of survival - and maybe, just maybe, something that might begin to resemble loyalty. The galaxy didn't care who they were, and Krynn was happy for it to stay that way.

Rickard Laurentius Bender

"The bounty hunting trade has dragged me from one side of the disk to the other, my brother from another mother."
Dr. Rick Bender, Master of House Salaktori.

Rick Bender is a human male from the city of Theed on planet Naboo. He is a Master Bounty Hunter of the Bounty Hunters Guild, Master of House Salaktori, and a freelance HoloNet archivist. The two first came into contact around the time that the PhD-come-bounty hunter became CEO of House Salaktori and injected optimism and forward-thinking into the guild, which proved to be fortunate for Daxx's early ventures into the wider galaxy.

Dr. Bender was one of the first of many individuals to contact Daxx whilst he paid off his debts on Darkness Prime. Admidst a torrent of messages from faction recruiters fighting for fresh meat to bind to the whim of their factions, as Daxx saw it, Dr. Bender's sincereity and his promise of a galaxy of freedom, honour, and ambition stood out clearly.

After several messages had been exchanged and the two got to know each other better, Daxx made the decision to accept the generous invitation of sponsorship from House Salaktori to become a fledgling bounty hunter. After he paid off his debts on Darkness Prime, Daxx swore an oath to House Salaktori and the Bounty Hunters Guild, swearing to follow the Salaktori Creed and to always honour the Code.

Prepared to set across the stars as a novice bounty hunter under Dr. Bender's mentorship and with initial loaned equipment loaded onto a Salaktori ship, Daxx was reported to have a sense of optimism that he had not felt since leaving his homeworld some years prior.

R3-X4 is an R3 Series Astromech manufactured by Industrial Automaton, owned by House Salaktori of the Bounty Hunters Guild.

The astromech was provided for use by Daxx as part of his sponsorship in House Salaktori. The droid helped co-pilot the first ship, a YT-2000 also on loan from the bounty-hunting House, that Daxx used to track and reach bounty acquisitions across the galaxy.

X4 was ironically nicknamed 'Speedy' by Daxx and his initial bounty hunting crew soon after they met. The droid found it difficult to reach speeds much faster than a steady humanoid walking pace, due to a small malfunction in its right traction belt, which gave rise to the mostly affectionate sobriquet.

The Nautila Hunters

The Nautila Hunters are a group of Nautolan ex-mercenaries, soldiers-for-hire, and ambitious hunters picked up by Krynn on his first, brief, return visit to Pieralos, the Nautolan capital city of Glee Anselm, since leaving all those years ago. He used the first credits he earned from bounty hunting and a fortunate ship sale to entice the crew to join him for what he promised would be a bounty hunting adventure, overflowing with riches and the delivery of justice across the galaxy.

In Year 26 Day 197 they took down their first Bounty Hunting contract with Krynn. Sarela Vrieska was a Corellian criminal and smuggler operating in and around the shadowy underbelly and wilder corners of the Inner Rim. At the time of her death, she was engaged in providing black-market medical supplies to colony ships and space stations, undercutting local above-board medical factions. A 650,000 credit bounty on Vrieska's head placed by a medical conglomerate was acquired by Krynn and the Nautila Hunters. They took less than 2 days after they accepted the contract in the Drunken Clam in Rondai to hunt down the acquisition to Dorin, acquiring the bounty without losses soon after.

The Nautila Hunters
Aenanya Doim Aneuryn Eronoss Ashaiya Aldamar Cain Rendix
An impoverished scrapper from an equatorial surface city, Aenanya joined the Nautila Hunters to evade absolute destitution. She's as handy with a blaster as she is with a blowtorch, making her a welcome addition to the Nautolan crew. A youthful infantryman in Gleen Anselm's planetary defence corps during the time of the Galactic Republic, Aneuryn brings military experience, fortitude, and a calming hand to the crew. Sixth daughter of a Lo'kah'rei shaman from the depths of the planet's southern ocean and set to inherit nothing of her family's wealth or reputation, Ashaiya's destiny was bound to thrust her into the wider galaxy. Growing tired of subsistence hunting with his nomadic clan of birth, it was not long before Cain turned his survival and shooting experience to hunting the most dangerous game in the galaxy, wherever the pucks take him.
Jensi Rigel Jord Greenback Kaz Grissom Leo Mishkohl
A quick-talking slicer who worked for a time on Nar Shaddaa, Jensi was always better with code than consequence. When a botched data heist forced him back to his homeworld, joining the Nautila Hunters was the opportunity he needed to start again. Born to a family of swamp-fishers, Jord spent his youth knee-deep in mud and muck, learning the importance of patience, careful aim, and how to breathe in pure stench. He's quiet, reliable, and near-on invisible in the chaos of a fire-fight. Once a sabacc dealer in a back-alley Pieralos cantina, Kaz fled after skimming too many credits from the wrong visiting galactic clientele. A gambler with charm and a sharp-tongue, he joined the crew to keep moving - and to stay one hand ahead of whoever's still chasing him. A disgraced planetary marshal from a backwater Glee Anselm trading port, Leo turned to bounty hunting to put his badge back on his chest on his own terms. His sense of justice may be slightly warped, but his capacity to enforce it is as sharp as ever.
Pranay Josto Railin Covell Saalia Senreiko Siala Starkiller
Pranay grew up in the narrow warrens of a mining station in his homeworld's system, where survival meant knowing when to fight back and when to vanish. With a knack for explosives and keen improvisation in precarious situations, he signed on with the hunters looking for a better future. A former field medic with a rebel-aligned cell long since dissolved, Railin still patches wounds with a soldier's speed and precision. Haunted but unflinching, she follows Krynn not for the credits, but because the crew gives her something that resembles purpose again. Prized daughter of a corrupt corporate executive, Saalia learned early how to navigate between privilege and danger. As an adult, suffocated by tradition and expectation, she joined the Nautila Hunters. For the first time in her life, it was on her own terms. A former Force-sensitive acolyte left behind after her cult imploded, Siala survived by forgetting faith and perfecting violence. She rarely speaks of her past, but when the lights go out and blasters are drawn, few move like her. She doesn't follow Krynn - she walks beside him.

Known Adversaries

House Salaktori Creed

"Let the Guild hereafter be unto you as your mother and father.
Let this house stand with you as a friend in need.
Let this home forever take pride in you as a lover who delights in your prowess.
Those who bore you may betray the Empire tomorrow.
He who in friendship stands by your side may slide the blade in all the easier.
She who shares your sleep may seek to strangle you in it.
After all forsake you, only your Guild shall remain to fortify and protect you.
Only your Guild understands exactly who and what you are and dares to care about you just the same.
"
House Salaktori Foundation Creed

1. Honour the Bounty Hunter's Creed.
Failure to observe the code could result in your becoming an acquisition. No excuses.
2. Accept the jobs the bounty broker offers you.
The pucks the Bondsman places on the table are being offered to you. Take them, and see that those jobs are completed before their due date. No exceptions.
3. Don't poach other syndicates.
Thinking of taking a job that the brokers offered to another hunter? Well, don't. If the Bondsman wanted you doing it, he would have offered it to you.
4. Submit disputes to the Guild for arbitration.
If you are experiencing a problem with another hunter or syndicate, bring it to the Guild and request a hunter's lodge. Do not try to handle it personally.
5. Don't question the Guildmaster.
If the leader of the Bounty Hunters Guild doesn't want you doing something, stop doing it immediately. No argument.
