The Kerdos Company is the New Republic's nationalized recycling company. When buildings don't meet regulations, or ships cost more to maintain than they are worth, New Republicans turn to the Kerdos Company to demolish them and extract any raw materials they can. The Kerdos Company uses advanced extraction and recycling techniques that are protected by many New Republican patents. The Kerdos Company also serves as the governing company of the Sluis system.
The Kerdos Company has been the center of both controversy and praise with its planetary planning and development projects. Projects such as the Kerdos Employee City Program have begun reshaping the Sluis system at a rapid pace. While some environmental groups warn against such programs, the Kerdos Company has carefully relocated many species and declared Sluis Van as a protected planet.
History
The Kerdos Company is an ancient company. When Coruscant was still being developed, the Kerdos Company assisted in construction, waste management, and demolition of old buildings. Rough times hit and the Kerdos Company fell with the rise of the Galactic Empire. The Kerdos Company has since been reborn and is now a highly respected and very productive branch of the New Republic's Ministry of Civil Engineering.
Glorious Beginnings

The Kerdos Company began as a small recycling operation on the planet of Coruscant during the time of the Old Republic. With expert management and dedicated staff, the Kerdos Company grew to become the largest player in the Coruscant waste management industry. It provided the economy with valuable raw materials while keeping the planet relatively clean. Under the expert guidance of the president of the company, it grew in value consistently between 70% and 120% yearly.
For the most part, the Kerdos Company stayed on the planet of Coruscant and chose not to venture to other planets unless absolutely necessary. This was in part due to the president of the company believing a too big to fail company will do just that. Indeed, Coruscant likely would have never become a planet-wide city without the Kerdos Company.
The Fall of the Company
Hundreds of years passed on Coruscant and the Kerdos Company still stood with the vision of the first president in mind. The war between the Old Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems
These years of growth and prosperity came to a sudden end with the rise of the Galactic Empire. The Empire's aggressive nationalisation and suppression policies made free business impossible for Kerdos. Vital members of its staff, ranging from normal workers to management, faced restrictions and oppression for being non-humans. The final straw came for many when the company was renamed "Imperial Waste Services". The non-human staff were treated so poorly, they came to refer to themselves as "Imperial Waste".
Rebirth and Rise
As a result Kerdos suffered an internal split, with a large portion of its staff abandoning Coruscant for the Outer Rim and leaving behind a mere shell of the conglomerate that it once was. With the help of the Rebel Alliance the defectors managed to rebuild their business unoppressed on Adbatar, making its first new step onto the galactic market in the end of year 7 of the galactic timeline. This new group, formed with a united goal towards freedom, would come to be recognised as a resurrection of the company they had once broken off with; once again, they would be known as the Kerdos company.
Illa`an Marallaus was 2IC prior to Edmond Zaccone.
On Y14 D253 Edmond Zaccone was promoted to Chief Executive Officer, replacing Kristina Roberts, who had moved into her position as CEO of Industrial Automation.
On Y15 D3 CEO Edmond Zaccone resigned. A replacement leader has yet to be named.
Notable Assets of the Kerdos Company
The Kerdos Company owns many assets as a New Republic Nationalized Company. A few notable assets are listed below.
Kerdos Research and Development Station
