The Chief of State of the New Republic is the highest political office within the Republic, dealing with several tasks. Should he be killed, captured or being unavailable an Interim Chief of State continues to work until a new Chief of State has been elected or the old one is freed.
Tasks
The Chief of State:
- is the head of the Executive Branch,
- is the Commander in Chief of the military forces,
- acts as the link between the Senate of the New Republic and the Executive branch,
- can break tied votes within the Senate,
- is responsible for management of the Senate elections,
- can grant pardons.
The current (since Year 12 Day 17) Chief of State is Taka Aioko.
