- "May you always find shade from the sun and shelter from the storm."
- — Ancient Jawa Farewell
Greyson Abrams (born Year -11 Day 164) is a Jawa who has made significant contributions as a virologist, geneticist, biotechnologist, politician, and businessman throughout the galaxy. He is best known for his work on the structure of the Metamorphosis Virus and his leadership roles in the Zann Consortium government.
From Year 11 to Year 13, Abrams was a faculty member at the Ayafa Medical University biology department, where he promoted research in molecular biology. In Year 12, he served as the director of the Nightshade Institute for Biological Studies (NIBS), where he expanded its level of funding and research. At NIBS, he shifted his research focus to the study of virology, making it a leading research center in the sector.
In late Year 15, Abrams was appointed chancellor of the university, but he resigned in early Year 16 after making controversial comments claiming a link between intelligence and race. Later that year, he became the second-in-command to the Zann Consortium local government, where he served for two years. He was then appointed Chairman and CEO of the NexCore Mining Corporation. In mid-Year 19, Nexcore closed its doors, and Greyson returned to Zann Consortium once more.
In addition to his work in the government, Abrams was granted the White Bear Institute on Ord Vaxal in early Year 19 to perform experiments and research. He also currently serves as the personal physician to the Krestviniic and Kominiic of the Zann Consortium government.

Early Life and Education
Greyson Abrams was born on Day 164 of Year -11 at 01:00:00 Combine Galactic Time in the dark, cluttered corridors of his D`nec clan's Sandcrawler on Tatooine. His parents often told him that as soon as he was born, he went right to work taking apart droids and collecting scrap.
Growing up, Abrams was different from the average Jawa who roamed the deserts. As a youth, he became increasingly restless and yearned to leave his homeworld to travel the galaxy. He spent most of his childhood and adolescence sitting atop one of his clan's massive sandcrawlers, examining the stars and dreaming of the wonders that awaited him if he left Tatooine and ventured into unknown territories.
After many restless years on Tatooine, Abrams was presented with an opportunity to leave forever. Jawas typically made their living by scavenging damaged or abandoned droids, which they would patch up and sell on to local moisture farmers. Their wares were rarely up to scratch, and unhappy farmers were usually unable to complain, as the Jawas departed in their sandcrawlers almost immediately after a sale.
One such disgruntled farmer managed to find the Jawas who had sold him a faulty droid. The droid had exploded, damaging one of the moisture vaporators which were essential to his survival on the parched planet. Incensed, the man demanded that the Jawas compensate him, though the clan refused. Unable to hold back his fury, the moisture farmer attacked them. After several Jawas were killed and his tribe fleeing for safety, Abrams developed a plan. He quickly found another (knowingly) faulty droid and presented it to the farmer free of charge. The man, sated, gladly accepted the droid but wanted to check it for flaws personally. As the man approached the droid, a faulty power cell caused a cascading failure. The resulting explosion heavily damaged the droid and sent razor-sharp shrapnel directly towards the farmer, killing him instantly. This first detonation would be one that would send him down the path with his obsession with explosions forever.
Undergraduate Years
Originally, Abrams had applied to Phu Sector University but was denied acceptance due to lack of financial responsibility and credible references.
Abrams began his university education at Consortium State College on Ord Vaxal in Year 5 at the age of 16. For the first six months, he was bored and lonely, finding the academic work “ridiculously easy.” His physics tutor later said, “It was only necessary for him to know that something could be done, and he could do it without looking to see how other people did it.”
Although he was an avid reader who fell in love with scientific and mathematical theories, he did not do well in business classes and avoided taking math. His grades during his first two years put him in the lower one-fifth of the class. During his sophomore year, he reportedly spent much of his time watching the HoloNet, gambling, and occasionally smoking ryll. In his junior and senior years, he became more involved with his studies. In his senior year, he took a class in neuroscience, which sparked his interest in the medical field and other health issues. Abrams earned an A on his thesis, “The Impact of Technology in the Field of Medicine,” and graduated cum laude in mid-Year 8.
Ayafa Medical University
Greyson Abrams enrolled in Ayafa Medical University in late Year 8. Initially, he struggled academically, scoring poorly on his first set of comprehensive exams. His faculty adviser recommended that he either drop out of medical school or take a reduced academic load to finish. Abrams continued with a regular academic load, and his grades improved to an average in his first year of medical school. By his second year, Abrams seldom attended lectures and instead studied text archives and lecture notes extensively, resulting in academic excellence. He graduated with an M.D. from Ayafa Medical University in Year 11.
After graduating, Abrams served one year as a surgical intern and three years as a molecular biology resident. He completed the final year as chief resident in Year 15. Abrams then spent one year as a senior registrar in neurosurgery at the Consortium State Hospital on Ord Vaxal.
Career and Research
Raging Banthas
After saving his clan from certain death but being punished accordingly for breaching the Jawa way of non-violence, Greyson Abrams was banished and sentenced to make his way to civilization. He took his only worldly possessions, along with meager credits, and walked out into the desert, not knowing what to expect.
Eventually, Abrams made his way to Mos Eisley, where he spent what credits he had bartering and drinking in the local cantina. Lost and desperately seeking an idea for a new life, his childhood dream of building starships came to him.
After contacting Galactic Rescue Ops and arranging for transport off of Tatooine, he drifted through the galaxy before finding a particular company named Nova Demons in Galactic Year 13. While they accepted him into their organization, they shortly after merged with one of their brother companies named Raging Banthas. The company provided vehicles, items, and mining equipment to the galaxy, loosely tied with the Dark Star Hellions swoop and the mercenary gang. After the merger, Abrams started as a long-hyper hauler, transporting cargo and raw materials.
After several months of getting to know his co-workers and being helpful wherever possible, Abrams was promoted into an advisory and lower administrative role, though it did not have an official title. Abrams had his hands in construction, sales, logistics, and trade. He was often seen negotiating transactions with clients and expanding the company's horizons. Although thoughts of his home and clan remained with him, he was happy to be doing what he felt he was born to do.
Trade Federation
Chief Flight Sgt Abrams
When Raging Banthas shut down in Year 14, Abrams searched extensively on the Holonet for another company that was hiring sentients. Eventually, he stumbled upon the Trade Federation, and on Day 300 of Year 14, he was accepted as a Cadet. Tired of administrative roles, he applied for entry into the Ministry of Defense, becoming the first Jawa to do so. He spent countless hours studying and researching before successfully completing the Academy exam, and was immediately accepted into the Ministry of Defense as an E-2. With the goal of eventually becoming the Minister of Defense for the Trade Federation, Abrams strived to be the best soldier he could be, all while remembering the events that led him to where he was.
During his time with the Trade Federation, Abrams transported ships across the galaxy, flew sorties against enemy combatants, and participated in large-scale sector scanning for new, undiscovered worlds. In the beginning of Year 15, he received an anonymous message offering him an opportunity to conduct espionage against the Trade Federation. Although content with his current position, he found the structured life of an officer monotonous and was tempted by the offer.
Around mid-Year 15, suspicions arose that Abrams was engaging in illicit activities with the Trade Federation. Within hours of the discovery, Abrams handed in his termination notice, returned his company-provided ships, and fled Trade Federation territory to avoid capture. He officially joined the group that had contracted him for espionage, the Zann Consortium.
His final rank in the Trade Federation was E-5 Chief Flight Sergeant with two medals earned:

Kurran, Drakko, and the Phage Group
Initially drawn to the field of molecular biology by the work of Vee Null, Abrams soon became part of a distributed group of researchers studying the nature of genetic mutations, using bacteriophages - viruses that infect bacteria - as a means to this end. Suk Kurran and Abrams were among the leaders of this new "Phage Group," a movement of geneticists studying microbial genetics through experiments like AV0750.
The Phage Group proved to be a crucial setting for Abrams to develop as a scientist, as its members believed they were on the path to uncovering the physical nature of the gene. In Year 14, he attended a conference in Coruscant hosted by the Trade Federation on the Great Animosity Plague, a conventional view at the time which believed the Plague to be proteins that could replicate themselves. Despite the prevailing view that DNA was merely a "stupid tetranucleotide" playing a structural role to support proteins, Abrams was aware of the Semper-Luz experiments, which suggested that the Plague could be used to deliver foreign genetic material at will.
Using radioactive phosphate as a tracer to determine which molecular components of the Plague particles could infect the target DNA during viral infection, the experiments were intended to determine whether protein or DNA was the genetic material. However, upon consultation with House Arkoh, the results were deemed inconclusive and unable to accurately identify the newly labeled molecules as DNA. Nevertheless, Abrams accompanied Vee Null to a meeting on Naboo where he saw Xucphra present their x-ray diffraction data for DNA, leading him to conclude that DNA had a definite molecular structure that could be elucidated.
In Year 17, Con Semper and Paul Luz published their model of the amino acid alpha helix, a result that grew out of the original work for AV0750, which would later become known as AV0790 and used in the Semper Procedure.
Theory of Consciousness
In his technical works, Abrams presents his theories on neural evolution, topobiology, and the remembered present. His first book, published in Year 16, titled "The Adaptive Brain," develops his theory of neural evolution, which explores the concept of plasticity in the neural network in response to environmental factors. His second book, published in Year 17, titled "The Neurodevelopmental Journey," proposes a theory of how the original neuronal network of a newborn's brain is established during embryo development. "A Conscious Universe," published in Year 18, contains an extended exposition of his theory of consciousness.
Abrams' biological theory of consciousness draws on his studies of the immune system, and he explicitly grounds his approach within natural selection. He rejects dualism and also dismisses computational models of consciousness and intelligence as adequate explanations, instead focusing on the morphology of the brain to explain consciousness. He argues that a newborn human baby's brain comprises a massive population of neurons, and only those cells and networks best adapted to their ultimate purpose will be selected as they organize into neuronal groups. He emphasizes the importance of the excess capacity of neurons in the young brain, as neurons are the only cells in the body that cannot be renewed.
Zann Consortium
Year 15
Terrorists in Coruscant
Upon officially joining Zann Consortium, Abrams resumed his previous work hauling ships, materials, and industrialized goods. Due to his previous experience infiltrating the Trade Federation, he was quickly promoted to the rank of Defiler and awarded his red armor and gear in a private ceremony.
As a natural organizer, Abrams was tasked with handling the takeover and assimilation of The Hexagonal Ring, which was in disarray following the assassination of Gamba Jaboli. Under Abrams' leadership, the company resumed regular activity within three standard galactic days.
Zann Consortium also acquired ninety-five AT-STs and over a thousand other vehicles from a Kuat Systems Engineering storage facility during a raid. Most of the vehicles were protected by Imperial shields and facilities, but the Galactic Empire chose to recycle their buildings with the vehicles still inside, destroying any possibility of recovery.
On Day 177, Andy "Vex" Longshot, who had recruited Abrams to Zann Consortium, was executed for his role in the incident that led to Abrams' retirement and departure from the Trade Federation. Abrams hacked and broadcasted a news report detailing the event on Day 275 to the Galactic News System. [1]
Year 16
Taxing the Rebels
In Year 16, a Zann Consortium Defiler posing as an Army 2nd Lt. was able to successfully raid a rebel armory on Day 232. The raid resulted in the liberation of numerous rebel trooper helmets, uniforms, and E-11b trooper rifles from the supply depot. The Zann agent managed to enter and leave without being detected by security personnel or surveillance droids. Ximaro Jix later explained to New Republic officials that the operation was a form of taxation on the rebellion for attempting to undermine the terrorist network's activities around the galaxy.
However, on Day 240, a New Republic Intelligence agent named Thrae Claddlyl attempted to lure Ximaro Jix into a trap to assassinate the Zann Consortium leader. Claddlyl was ultimately subdued by a Zann Consortium security team and returned to the New Republic.
Following the attempted assassination, on Day 244, Kominiic Abrams released a GNS post highlighting the events surrounding the failed assassination and the successful supply depot raid. [2]
The Nightshade Institute
The Nightshade Institute
Abrams assumed the position of Director and President of the Nightshade Institute for Biological Studies (NIBS) in late Year 16, where he served for three years. During his tenure, he spearheaded the development of the institute's mission statement to further research molecular biology and genetics to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of cancers, neurological diseases, and other sources of suffering throughout the galaxy. With Abrams' leadership, NIBS significantly expanded both its research programs and its science education initiatives. He is recognized for his contribution in "revolutionizing a small establishment into a top education and research institution. His introduction of a cancer research program led to significant progress in understanding the genetic basis of cancer."
In early Year 19, criticisms of his viewpoints on genetic factors linked to intelligence led to Abrams' suspension, and he resigned a week later. In a statement, Abrams cited his age and unanticipated circumstances as reasons for his resignation.
Year 17
Breathing Apparatus | |
Triumvirate Coalition's Fallen King
On Day 17 of Year 17, a report circulated across the galaxy that the government of the Triumvirate Coalition suffered an attack, in which former Consul and King of Triumvirate, Rick Fias, along with Zann Consortium's second-in-command, Abrams, raided the government and stole over eleven billion credits from the bank vaults.[3] The raid also involved Defilers commanded by Abrams, who changed the ownership paperwork of various cities, ships, facilities, raw materials, and weapons in the Triumvirate territory. In addition to this, Abrams and Fias convinced up to five thousand of the government’s primary workforce along with troops to defect against their government, corrupting the local populace. Ximaro Jix, the Zann Consortium leader, was also present in the territory to assist with the operation.
The attack took place just days after former Triumvirate Consul Dero Racto had an argument with Ximaro over a neutral aggression pact that Zann Consortium was attempting to establish with Triumvirate to end Zann's continuous attacks on the Coalition. However, the details of the feud between the Consul and former Crime Lord remain unknown. During the raid, Fias identified himself as a Defiler, a fact that Ximaro later confirmed through multiple transmissions. Despite the significant physical presence of Zann agents during the assault, no innocent civilians or Triumvirate troops were harmed, and Rick Fias ensured that all citizens found would be taken into custody by Defilers and given fair treatment. Triumvirate Forces attempted to protect their holds while Zann cleared various ships of hostiles in the state's space, which was observed by hundreds of witnesses.

On Day 140, Kominiic Abrams was attacked by three enemy sleeper agents, who attempted to capture him. The attack resulted in the immediate death of Kyoto Onren, who was taken down by Abrams himself, while the other two assassins, Ayala Adia and Jax Xanbot, managed to flee the scene but were later caught and killed by additional Zann Consortium forces, including members of their special security force and Insurgency Cell 3. No organization claimed responsibility for the attack.
As a result of the attack, Abrams was left with severe injuries that impaired his breathing. He now requires a modified heavy battle armor suit to tend to his ongoing medical issues. Although he can survive without the suit and can wear a breathing mask instead, Abrams finds it simpler to wear the armor at all times. In the future, Abrams hopes that through viral modification of the Metamorphosis Plague, natural organ regeneration can become possible.
Year 19
The White Bear Institute
The White Bear Institute
Abrams was invited to aid in the establishment of a self-governed research institute aimed at biomedical research after the Zann Consortium made a charitable contribution. A unique structure of an independent research institute consisting of "members" was created with close ties to the Department of Biology at Ayafa Medical University. The White Bear Institute for Biomedical Research (WIBR) was launched with funding of 35 million credits to construct and equip a new building adjacent to Ayafa Medical University, with an additional guaranteed monthly income of 5 million credits and a significant endowment. Founding members, including Ximaro Jix, Vee Null, Hondo Walker, and Zane Apex, represented a range of disciplines from immunology, genetics, biotechnology, oncology, and vivisection to the study of animal species such as Mynocks, Banthas, and sentient volunteers, eager to advance medical knowledge.
Under Abrams' leadership, the groundwork was laid for future studies, including weapons, engine, metallurgy, and electronics development, research, and testing. WIBR's medical laboratories were dedicated to two primary research areas: understanding the mammalian immune system and creating viral vectors to make the immune system more effective in resisting cancer. The team's focus was on the diverse actions of the NF-κB transcription factor, which activates up to 1000 genes in response to different stimuli and plays different roles in various cells.
The team also explored the functions of microRNAs and their control over gene expression. Abrams' team with Biotech discovered microRNA-146a (miR-146a), a small RNA molecule that regulates protein production, and developed a strain of miR146a(-) Mynocks to study the effects of chronic inflammation on the activity of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). The team's findings suggested that microRNA-146a protects HSCs during chronic inflammation and its lack may contribute to blood cancers and bone marrow failure.
Personal Life
Marriage and Family
Abrams currently resides on the planet Ord Vaxal along with his wife, Cyia`vet Avita, whom he met at the annual Jawa Swap Meet in Year 18 and married shortly after.
As his success grew in the galaxy, Abrams brought his entire clan from Tatooine aboard his flagship, the BTN Starcrawler. They continue to live and work aboard the ship, with their Sandcrawlers serving as their permanent homes.
In Year 20, Abrams, his wife Cyia`vet, and a BD-3000 droid traveled to the B'omarr Order temple on Tatooine with a group of Defilers and Hondo Walker for their regular training pilgrimage. During a secret medical procedure that only CCyia`vet and the droid attended, a brain swapping procedure was performed, allowing Cyiavet to transfer her consciousness into the droid body. The procedure was a success, and the organic body was discarded. As a result, Abrams is now almost always seen accompanied by his wife, who serves as his loyal protocol and translation droid, personal assistant, and companion.
Spirituality
In an interview, Abrams shared his perspective on spirituality, defining it as "a feeling that connects you to the universe in a way that may defy simple vocabulary." He believed that science and spirituality could coexist and complement each other, with spiritual experiences being a form of emotional connection to scientific discoveries. However, Abrams has also expressed controversial views and beliefs, particularly in his tendency towards fascist ideologies. In a speech, he praised the efficiency and order that fascism could bring, while condemning what he perceived as the chaos and disorder of democracy. These views have earned him a reputation as a villain in the galaxy, and his ideologies have often clashed with those of the more progressive and liberal factions.
Conflicts with Racism
In an undated interview, Abrams shared his experiences as a non-human and prominent scientist in the galaxy. He recalled an interview he gave about a plasma burst from the Coruscant sun, where he was one of the few non-human experts consulted for his expertise in the field. It was a moment that made him realize the prevalence of the stereotype that non-humans are somehow less intelligent, and he made it his mission to challenge this stereotype by being visible and representing non-human scientists in mainstream media.
At a conference at the Galactic Academy of Sciences in Year 13, Abrams was asked about the possibility of genetic differences hindering the success of non-human scientists. He responded by pointing out that his own path to becoming a scientist was full of resistance and obstacles due to societal prejudices. Before discussing genetic differences, he argued, the social barriers and lack of equal opportunities for all species needed to be dismantled.
In a Consortium State News interview in Year 16, Abrams reiterated the importance of removing social barriers and promoting equal opportunities in science. He stated that he no longer speaks publicly about race, as he believes that focusing on his alien identity detracts from the message and importance of his scientific work. Since Year 12, he has declined any interview that focuses on his alien identity as the premise, as he believes it undermines the true purpose of his work as a scientist.
Research & Development
Abrams is a vocal proponent of expanding research and development operations throughout the galaxy. He firmly believes that "the most powerful concept on the dreams of a galaxy is currently underfunded to do what it needs to be doing." Abrams argues that the general public overestimates the amount of revenue allocated to research, often mistaking it for a large portion of the budget. At a Year 17 address, he clarified the proportion of tax revenue spent on R&D, stating that it is only half a unit. He challenged the audience, asking, "How much do you think we're spending? Five units, ten units on a credit...?" before revealing that the actual amount is a mere half a unit.
In a Year 18 public address, Abrams advocated for increasing the budget for R&D. He argued that with just one unit on a credit, twice the current budget, the galaxy could be transformed from a "sullen, dispirited government, weary of economic struggle" to one that has "reclaimed its rightful birthright to dream of tomorrow." Abrams firmly believes that investing in research and development is the key to unlocking the galaxy's potential and advancing the scientific knowledge and technological capabilities of sentient species.
Controversies
Eugenics
In Year 17, Abrams expressed his support for eugenics during an interview, suggesting that through a better understanding of galactic genomes, a unified new race could be created, taking the positive traits from all species. However, he believed that such race advancement was not yet feasible, but hoped that someday the galaxy could overcome its current divisions.
Despite his beliefs in genetic engineering, Abrams held strong prejudices against the Jawa race, which he considered to be 'impure' and in need of purification. This belief has led to controversy and direct or indirect violence against the Jawa community, with publicized cases such as the murder of individuals such as Uli-ah Gafsa and Grisu Moratom.
In public lectures and interviews, Abrams has argued that stupidity is a disease and that the "really stupid" bottom 10% of people should be cured through genetic screening and engineering. Such statements have sparked debates and protests among different groups and individuals in the galaxy.
